Reality check please.
Will everyone please stop talking about Reagan???? Just stop talking about him NOW.

Reagan isn't worth all of the attention he is getting on the DU.

Ronald Reagan did NOTHING during the early years of a national health crisis. NOTHING.

Instead of acting swiftly to identify what was causing the death of gay men, Reagan fell under the spell of Jerry Falwell and his 'moral majority'. This new and unknown virus resulted in the politics of fear, hate and discrimination.

Leadership and politics of change? Pop culture icons like Phil Donahue and Princess Diana did more than our own president. Reagan did NOTHING for years.

His silence and inaction resulted in a death sentence to thousands. No funding because maybe they deserved it.

We can only wonder how many lives could have been saved if President Reagan's leadership inspired our country to show compassion instead of fear of this disease.

This is personal for me because my brother died from AIDS many, many years ago. I will never forget the fear, shame and isolation that my brother felt. I will never forget his friends who are now also gone.

Reagan's legacy to me will always be his silence and lack of compassion for his fellow man. And for what? Political expediency. Shameful.

I don't want to hear about why it might be smart for Obama to bring up Reagan's name in a positive way because it will help him win over Reagan admirers in Nevada or California. It might be politically expedient but it isn't exactly CHANGE.

Obama shouldn't be bringing up Reagan and Edwards should stop talking about it, too. THIS IS NOT THE KIND OF CHANGE THAT OUR COUNTRY WANTS.

1. It sounds like what you really want is the last word.
You could have made a case for the irrelevancy of Ronald Reagan to this election, but instead you take a side after your call for a cease fire. That is just tacky.

5. I think you missed my point.
Which is....

He doesn't deserve all this attention. Whether it is pro-Obama or pro-anyone else.

I happen to like Obama....OK?

4. We're not talking about Reagan we are talking about what Obama stands for
Which is very little except appeasing Republicans, voting "present", bashing Hillary and dog whisting about gays.

8. Thanks. that's the first thread I've seen that idolized the Gipper...
For the most part, though, it was all about Obama's intentions where the Democratic party is concerned.

7. Obama should never have brought up that pig, and the Clintons need to stop high-fiving GOPers
However, I doubt my dreams will come true, so I'm with EDWARDS!!!
