Diebold Is A Fine... Outstanding Company...... RANT!
Edited on Wed Jan-16-08 04:16 PM by mrdemocrat78
And Dubya REALLY won in '00 & '04

This is not a hillary bash...

Why is it that every time someone mentions the discrepancies in NH; that Obama won the hand counts in NH & Hillary won the Diebold all of the Hillary supporters say...

OH, and Hillary owns Diebold..

Of all the posts I have read addressing this, the ONLY people I see even bringing up that possibility is the Hillary supporters.

I do not think that Hillary would do that. I think...never mind. Not gonna go there.

NO, I do not believe Hillary would rig the voting machines, but lets not kid ourselves here. Diebold cannot be trusted. If you believe they are a good trustworthy company, then all you need to look at is our current White House.

Combine that with all the polls saying the Hillary loses to just about all of the repug candidates, and tell me... who would stand to gain from rigging our primaries?

Because if we believe they are trustworthy now, what recourse do we have when they do it in the general election? You know they're going to try it again. Let's not be so blind this time.

Let me say this... If Hillary is still the winner after the recount, then fine. That is wonderful; any way you look at it, it is still good for us; The Democratic Party.

However, if there are discrepancies we need to know about it now. What if Obama really lost by double digits? That is a possibility that the repugs would want him too; especially after seeing how race baiting works so well with us.

All I am saying is that Diebold is NOT trustworthy. And I want to know FOR SURE that each and every vote counts.

So please, stop thinking this issue is just about ONE STATE PRIMARY. This is so much more. And closing the dialog off now just screws us in the end.

I've only been here seven years,...

How did you miss this?

"All I am saying is that Diebold is NOT trustworthy. And I want to know FOR SURE that each and every vote counts."

Maybe you should read a whole post, not just the title.

4. Yes, I did, and I have NO PROBLEM with a recount,
which I have been given to understand (by a fellow DUer) will involve PUBLICLY hand-counting the ballots. Therefore, I will be patient and await the results.

BTW: would just like to share my personal fantasy of what we should do with the Diebold machines: Melt them down and mold them into a giant fist with the middle finger raised in the "American Eagle" salute.
Present to the company with a sign reading; "From the American Voters".

6. Guess what? I've read the Accuvote code and there was nothing there
Diebold has problems, but I've used their ATMs for years w/o a second thought.

11. I guess one of us knows what they're talking about. Diebold is a company
Accuvote is one of their products and I read every damn line of code because someone suspected foul play and I need evidence. I won't tell you what I found, but other experts have also looked and seen nothing nefarious.

Changes are required, yes, but Diebold has a history of secure electronic tranmissions for the banking industry. In fact, I met the guy who developed the software when I was getting my masters.

Now, can we have an adult discussion?

10. Machines are machines.
They pretty much just do what you tell them to do.

BUT:

Wasn't it LHS that PROGRAMMED the Diebold AccuVote machines?

Here's EXACTLY what I have a problem with:

http://www.democracyfornewhampshire.com/node/view/5330
"The paper ballots cast by 80% of the state's voters have never been examined by anyone to determine the mechanical vote-counting accuracy. The computer counting of those ballots is overseen by a single, private company which is routinely granted extraordinary access to the systems, and interviews with a number of state officials indicate they all seem to have different understandings of what, if any, rules exist to regulate that access...

12. Many questions have been brought up about why aren't the
candidates speaking up about this. My question is, why isn't Howard Dean speaking up and demanding these machines be shut down until there is a way to audit. This is such a huge issue one has to wonder why ALL THREE PARTIES are not unified on this front and join in ensuring the integrity of the election process, our vote.

This is something every citizen would support.

This absolutely just stinks, because you know there's going to be an outcry after this election. There is just too much that has been proven for any of us to have one shred of belief in the system. There are a slew of things that could be done to win back our confidence and ensure every vote is legitmate.
