Obama due for some bad press Feb 25th....
Edited on Thu Jan-10-08 05:38 PM by Didereaux
The Rezko Connection: Obama's Achilles Heel?
"his week, a federal judge in Chicago ordered the Rezko trial to begin Feb. 25."
http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/story?id=4111483&page=1

---------------------------------------------------------

Good, bad or indifferent the news headlines are going to carry this. And no matter who does the spinning it will fix in the American electorate mind the Obama-crook connection. No one paid a bit of attention when the story broke last Spring(I think it was). But jsut before Super-Tuesday! Nobody will avoid exposure. I am sure the Obama camp is way ahead on this, but I'm stumped as to how you counter it, or if you even try. He may just re-use his admission of it being a 'boneheaded mistake. But that doesn't mix well with 'experience' issues and rezko doesn't mix well with an 'honesty' no crooks message either...as the King of Siam would say "It's a puzzlement.

edit speelnig

I was just informed that my dates were in error and so the effect on Super-Tuesday that I said were worriesome are in fact non-existent.

But the story I think carries interest even if the commentary is worthless.

1. I thought super Tuesday is Feb 5th?
Besides, I'll take this over what's going to come out about the businessmen Bill has been hanging around with and taking donations from for the last 8 years. The Clinton's have not been "fully vetted," as Hillary likes to say - there's much more to come.

3. I thought Obama was an innocent in that one
that it was more 'crimes by prior association'...getting hit by a wide brush, not actual criminal intent.

Now Hillary and Bill they need to watch it. If Hillary and Bill's b.s. is covered up, while Obama is made into the anti-christ of fraud,....

6. Obama's innocence doesn't really matter much, except to him and us.
Edited on Thu Jan-10-08 05:56 PM by Benhurst
John Kerry, a legitimate war hero, was vilified for his war record in his run against A.O.L. Bush.

This will be used by the Republicans. At least if Obama is nominated, we are forewarned.

4. Nobody ever mentions the $ Bill got from Jackson Stephens and BCCI
Edited on Thu Jan-10-08 05:38 PM by EVDebs
"...according to Evil Money by Rachel Ehrenfeld page 180:

"The BCCI debacle made ts first intrusion into the US presidential race in 1992 and may be more damaging to the Democratic presidential candidate Bill Clinton, governor of Arkansas, than his alleged extramarital affair. Clinton's fund-raiser and confidant, Jackson Stephens, a billionaire from Little Rock who owns the controlling interest of Worthen National Bank in Little Rock, was the person who introduced Bert Lance to Abedi. While Stephens might not have known back in 1977 that BCCI was a criminal bank, Bill Clinton had full knowledge of Stephen's involvement with BCCI when he accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars from the Stephens family for his campaign. On the eve of the New Hampshire primary Robert Morganthau was looking into the BCCI/Stephens/Clinton link. In December 1991 The Wall Street Journal reported that Stephens and his bank invested in Harken Energy, a small Texas investment company of which George Bush, Jr, is a board member. The money Stephens invested came through the Swiss BCCI subsidiary."

From back in the old days. I'm not sure HRC's money from Hsu et al was all the CIA could spare ?

Is Stephens still a donor/confidante in her camp ?

5. Problem for Obama is

the constant talk about it might bring the wheels of his "change" campaign though and that my dear spells major shit because if he loses that, he might as well fold and go home. You can be assured its going to be pushed now its been raised.

ABC's already started and the blogs on it have been fury against Obama, apparently theres a lot of stuff about him we heard yet, if they are to be believed. I'd be amazed if he's known this guy Rezko for 20 years and knew nothing of his alledged bad guy connections. I don't think thats plausible really, this is Illinois we are talking about.

The other thing that will stir shit is that this Rezko guy is an arab american of Syrian descent, jesus could he not be a fixer of "italian" origin instead. It'll give the knuckleheads more amunnition for just that.

Again, its the bloody perception that will do damage, won't matter if its true or not.

11. If I knew about it (which I did), it's pretty much old news. I was so
uninterested in it, I do think Obama addressed it. Of course I'm from Jersey, this would be a non-issue to most people. I don't know enough about it.

12. Smear smear smear
Disgusting.

You can win on the merits. There's no reason for this politics of smear and insinuation.

A truly despicable post.

14. and is that how you would deal with it on a national exposure level? Now is the time to plan the ..
defense strategy. You'll never get that corporal promotion in the Kiddy Army being ignorant.

Real nice.

I have every confidence that Hillary will win the nomination. I will support her enthusiastically in the general.

You, on the other hand, are a despicable fucking piece of shit.

13. Vote Kucinich!
They got NOTHING on him.

Saw a UFO? Big fucking deal - so did Reagan.

Refused to sell Cleveland's public utility to ENRON style corporatists? If you think that's a "negative", you're in the wrong party.
