On the 'crying' thing
I can honestly relate to tearing up at a thing which most people think you might not tear up at. I had a very rough couple of months. Gang fight complete with taser in my room, being outed in class, a seperate fight in a different class, and turning forty. None of that made me cry. What got me crying. Being asked to be the faculty advisor for my GSA. When I got asked I said yes and held it together, but then went out to my car and cried. You can stay stoic for a long time and then just cry. Hillary didn't even cry. She did tear up.

I can't believe all this non sense about crocidile tears. Shame on all of you.

1. exactly
and what happened?

With her guard down, we got to see the real Hillary --the person.

And a lot of people liked what they saw.

2. As somebody who cries while watching "I'ts a wonderful life"
I couldn't blame her or anybody else. It's a human emotion.

3. I'm more likely to tear up from frustration than anything else
I know enough to hide my tears of pain and sadness....but I can't hide frustration

5. Amen.
Thus far I've avoided all the nasty posts supposedly here on DU regarding Hillary's tearing up. It's a good thing. I'd hate to have my illusions that liberals are somehow more enlightened, sensitive and intelligent than the small-minded 'pubs completely shattered. I've had enough of the illusion shattered in the past 7 years and there's not much left.

6. Because it looked forced.
To me it seemed staged. Maybe I'm wrong, but it's what I think.

7. I hate to think what people would have thought of me sitting in that car
things can just happen.

8. I think some people are seeing what they want to see
They have a personal stake in de-humanizing her as much as possible because they HATEHATEHATE her. To acknowledge that she had a very touching and humanizing moment is to admit that they might be just a teensy bit wrong. Therefore, they'll swear it was "staged" and "fake" to their dying day, no matter how ridiculous they look. Nothing will convince them otherwise. They have a similar mindset to the 24% who STILL support Bush--they see what they want to see, and filter out all the rest.

Frankly, I'm sick of fanatics on *both* sides. I like passion. Like Madison, I fear faction.
