Sometimes rural counties, or urban ones, are counted first, and it makes a difference

There is usually a divide between rural and urban regions in a state. They usually prefer different kinds of candidates. This is why with 9% we have no idea who will win.

I live in a solid Republican congressional disctrict. Every election, the results start coming in and our Dem is way ahead. But the precincts that come in first are the ones in the city and are heavily Dem. Then the suburbs come in and it all reverses.

5. The vote is still not closed in the cities and town in the South, close to Boston.

Not sure who it helps, but,the vote tends to be different.

Obama wasn't ahead until about halfway through the counting of precincts and his lead was miniscule until just about the very end.
