Stranger from Blah3 calls DU and My DD out and his analysis is interesting...
Stranger nailed it to the wall and he did it with the big boy hammer.
Somebody had to say it.
Things have gotten downright pathetic around here with all of the name calling and feces tossing.

DU is STILL my favorite place on the web, and my #1 destination when I sit down in front of any computer.
But someone had to administer a slap up the side of our collective heads to maybe wake a few of us up.
None of us can honestly say that things are not a little different here in our little community.
I've seen people say that it's never been this bad.
The deliberate and sometimes vicious attempts to piss people off are at an all time high.

Check this out...

A great read: http://www.blah3.com/article.php?story=20071231170602419

WHY I HATE THE PRIMARIES

The primary season (at least on the Republican side) has been enormously entertaining, as we got to watch the GOP's wannabes try to be more pious than all the rest, often while simultaneously explaining why they're adulterous, corrupt, flip-flopping panderers with more ambition than integrity. I gotta say that watching the other side of the aisle engage in the equivalent of a hair-pulling contest for the past six months has been jolly fun.

On the Democratic side, not so much.

I logged on to Democratic Underground last night, and it seems that every other poster has put up a post that is irrefutable proof that Hillary is Evil or john Edwards is a Hypocrite or Obama is a Lightweight Who Isn't Ready For Higher Office. Each one of these posts, of course, draws the supporters of whoever is being trashed, and the whole thing devolves into pissing matches that deteriorate further and further into Screech-ville until the moderators are forced to lock the thread. Then the whole thing starts over again.

And even on more supposedly level-headed blogs like MyDD, the tenor of the posts have taken on that of a food-fight (albeit with far fewer uses of the word 'Fuck'). Jerome or whoever is posting puts up a long-winded, scholarly-sounding post that when stripped of the multi-syllabic vocabulary and literary references boils down to either Hillary Is Evil or John Edwards is a Hypocrite or Obama is a Lightweight Who Isn't Ready For Higher Office (although they tend to lay off of hillary, because - and I see this on a number of comment sigs - 'Hillary's Their Girl!). The long-winded, scholarly-sounding comments to each post drone on and on, with the commenters veiling their contempt for one another behind more phony language than a Republican congressman referring to a Democratic congressman as 'my esteemed colleague and long-time friend.'

You know they all want to tell each other to go fuck themselves, but of course on big-time money-making blogs like MyDD, that's just not done. Why, that would be like wearing white after Labor Day! And believe me, on blogs like that one, nobody wants to be considered uncouth or rude, because that would ruin the utter civility and seriousness of it all.

Hit the link and read the rest.

Also, check out the stock market graph on the main page.
If we can't win when we have powerful information like this little nugget, we don't deserve to win.

3. Unfortunately
Some longtime Duers with a penchant for reaming people out on other topics have become more passionately engaged this political season. new posters can't be screened but it seems obvious well wishing candidate supporters not as affable as the Dean or Clark supporters have been apporaching this website as some sort of job or crusade. Something that may earn me flames has seemingly been injected this year. We have worked out many macho themes with painful chest beating over the years but having a woman candidate on top has given us something brand new to deal with. New, not worse, and added to past tensions of the persistent male sort. The illegitimate defeats of the past years haven't helped calm anything down, of course. So craziness IS king in America.

I don't know how the vitriol doesn't eat away the keyboards of some posters and the malicious errors send them uncontrollably reeling over to FR for the requisite flame war high.

Is there a Buddhist web site that does politics?

4. while reading some article last night
i ran across an interesting insight that there are still hard feelings by some in iowa over the tenor of the people in 2004 democratic campaigns that took place in some caucuses...i think this problem is`t going away. i wonder if it will go away here? too much purity for me..every candidate has some really bad flaws and have said some really stupid things. personal insults on any candidate points to the level of the posters intelligence and attacking a candidate for something they said or their ideas should stand or fall on their merits.

7. Too many payed operatives, stuck to their choice, spending their time.
I'm glad they made their choice and stand for it. But, it gives them time to be "EFFECTIVE" which involves bumpersticker statements cut and pasted across our chats.

DROLL.

I ignore all the "I just decided" "I'll never vote for" "..just lost my support" posts and try to read the news.

PAYED for volunteers means access and/or getting inside info.
