Clark supporters: ABB?
In light of all the loyalty oaths demanded of Dean supporters, and in light of all the extreme disdain shown by Clark supporters toward Dean it seemed appropriate to offer you this opportunity to state your ABB (or other) intentions.

Are you ABB? If not what will you do if Clark does not win the nomination?

Julie

1. Every Clark supporter I know on DU and off DU are ABB...
Edited on Mon Dec-29-03 06:53 PM by wyldwolf
In fact, I've never seen a Clark supporter indicate otherwise.

15. You haven't looked too hard then.
There are several that have posted that they would not vote for Dean in the GE. It was usually argued in a way that was supposed to support their claim that Dean couldn't win the GE. Supposedly not enough "crossover" appeal.

49. There is a difference between supporting your candidate
because you think he is the only one who has a chance, as opposed to saying you will NOT support the eventual Democratic candidate.

Of course I think Dean cannot get elected. Why the hell else would I be backing someone else? I'm not backing any of the others for the same reason. I'm not going to jump from candidate to candidate in some sort of lunatic "anti-Dean" thing, either. If Clark doesn't get the nomination it is all the same for me after that.

I'll work for the Democratic candidate the same as I would for Clark. I'd just be hoping to be pleasantly surprised.

ABB RULES!

Although it would have been really much nicer if you could have posted your question without the highly inflammatory remark --

There is lots of extreme disdain being shown on DU by lots of different supporters.

4. Has Clark said his supporters were "non-transferrable"?
No, that was Dean. So no problem here. Clark supporters will back the eventual Democratic candidate.

17. Not pretending.
All Gov. Dean did was speak a simple truth--- he can and will support the nominee AND urge his supporters to do the same. No candidate in the race has 100% 'automatic transferrability' on their supporters--- not one.

24. sadly, this happens
and it goes both ways -- there's a rather vocal Dean supporter on another active thread right now saying it's "Dean's way or the highway."

There is going to be some small percentage of disaffected folks given any outcome who will do more harm than good with their anger. It's unfortunate but to be expected given human nature.

32. Yes
I do. While I get tired of seeing derivations of the same old Clark attacks (Shelton smear, fundraising video, etc.) over and over again, I shudder to think how many more times I would see these attacks if Clark were the frontrunner. Though I would trade places :-)

It's unfortunate, but most Dean smear threads appear to come from the same 4-5 "Clark" supporters and a Kerry supporter or 2. Most Clark smears come from the same 4-5 Dean supporters or a handful of Greens.

It's sad to think that both of these fine men must be torn down by a few misguided souls who would be firmly disavowed by the very candidates they claim to so ardently support. Either candidate would make a fine President and an evolutionary leap beyond Bush. I really don't understand what they are trying to achieve. There are a few hundred people a day who seem to post on the GD Primary thread; do they actually think they are positively influencing a substantive number of voters?

I notice that you always appear as a voice of reason. I try to do the same because ... well, it's the right thing to do.

Amen! I do try to be reasonable, but it would try the patience of a saint, some days.

It is the same hardcore group of people who start these ridiculous falme wars, time and time again. Sad, isn't it, that they don't understand that they're hellping the candidate they allegedly support not at all.. *sigh*

And this question has been asked of Clark supporters several times before. I have personally gone through this public exercise in loyalty reassurance on more than one occasion.

However, feelings are a bit raw, so if I can help by offering this reassurance again, glad to do it.

25. can we stop this nonsense?
It's just tiresome to see everybody pretend that they're the only aggrieved people here. Dean supporters notice every attack on Dean and think it's disproportionate. Clark supporters notice every attack on Clark and think they're disproportionate.

The fact is, the silly smears are generally posted by a very small handful of people who keep digging up the same old complaints over and over.

FYI, there's another thread on the front page of this forum right now wherein a Dean supporter vows that if Dean is not the nominee, he will not vote for a Democrat EVER AGAIN.

Do I take that to be representative of Dean supporters? Of course not - it would be silly to.

yes, I'll vote for the Democratic nominee. I expect approx. 99% of people here will vote for the Democratic nominee.

Can we please stop these silly attacks? There really ARE issues of substance we disagree on and can discuss. This isn't one of them.
