7. They did, in fact, both endorse Lamont
Sorry they didn't do ENOUGH to please you, but she was running her own re-election campaign at the time.

10. The problem is when you compare BC in the primaries and general election
Primaries - he gave a powerful speech backing Leiberman, which was the strongest speech I ever heard him give. It actually listed all Leiberman's accomplishments, rather than switching to speak of himself. He also did robo calls. As their primary was in August this could well have been seen in November as Bill's preference.

General Elections - a brief announcement. He did say on Larry King that it was win/win. That sounds pretty neutral - making his support incredible tepid.

12. Ture, but virtually the whole national Democratic Party backed Lieberman
across the board. And it is also true that Barbara Boxer came out to CT from CA just to campaign for Liebeman, in the Primaries. Barbara Boxer that DLC stooge. The strong support shown Lieberman crossed ideological lines - in the Primaries.

Hillary had that weekend meeting with Lamont after he won the Primary and after that came through with some concrete support for Lamont, beyond a basic endorsement. She could have done a lot more to help him than she did, granted. Few National Demorats went out of their way to help Lamont and our Senate leadership was being very careful to promise Joe in public, AFTER the primary, that he would not be stripped of Seniority if won as and Independent and caucused with the Democrats.

8. You earlier posted to point out that Barbara Boxer campaigned for Lieberman
Right? Are you out to get all Democrats or just most of them? All of that was in the Primary. Hillary Clinton endorsed Lamont, gave him funds for his campaign and lent campaign staff to him. Could she have done a lot more, yes of course, but she did support Lamont.

From sources inside the Lamont campaign only two national Democrats came through for Lamont in a real big way. Those were John Kerry and Wes Clark. John Edwards gets some special credit for campaigning once with Lamont also (but that was when Lamont was basking in the glow of his primary victory and it seemed possible Lieberman could still pull out). Many Democratic Senators endorsed Lamont for the General Election - including all of our candidates. Obama actually was stronger in his support of Lieberman during the primary than most, calling Lieberman a personal (not ideological) mentor in the Senate.
