Former Two-Term Maryland Governor Endorses Bill Richardson For President

Former Gov. Parris Glendening was elected Governor in 1994 and served through 2002. He was one of the few bright spots for Dems in 1994, defeating his opponent in the closest race in MD history.

1. Glendening endorsement is nothing to boast about.

A consummate pol who dumped his wife for a trophy one. It was pretty unpleasant - Gov. Marvin Mandel, a Glendening predecessor,
did the same thing.

3. Not the most popular of Governors, But Still:
An effective one. He got elected twice. The one you don't want the endorsement of is fmr. Gov. William Donald Scaefer--the guy that called one of his opponents "mother hubbard," in the primary last year, and the guy that went around the state championing Bush in 1992 as Governor. Schaefer is a total ass. Glendening has a messy personal life. I'll take the messy personal life any day...

2. Good News
Glendening was a good Governor, though never the most popular of politicians here.

If the primary lasts until February 12th, it'll be interesting to see who wins Maryland. O'Malley is strongly with Clinton. The Maryland Governor is very powerful, and that's a key endorsement. But some other very influential figures (Rep. Cummings, et al) are with Obama. I hope Richardson is still around, so I can vote for him.
