2. I have heard this argument before, in a slightly different format.

I certainly wish it will be true in 08. But we just don't know what the effect of a first woman or first black presidential candidate will have, since all of these keys seem to be based on past presidential campaigns. It seems to me that it could swing either way, either overwhelmingly FOR or AGAINST such a candidate.
