Don't Look Now...But Obama Just Won Iowa
Oprah was fantastic and Obama is sure to get rave reviews from the MSM (not that I like them...but it'll help his campaign). Anybody who says this won't shake up the polls is just dead wrong. I expect Obama to be outside the margin of error and close to a 5-8 point lead in the coming Iowa polls. Let's hope it carries over to New Hampshire and South Carolina!!!

GOBAMA!!!!

16. I'm glad that the MACHINE POLITICS of Bush and Clinton are finally being spurned.
Edited on Sat Dec-08-07 06:30 PM by blm
I am sick of this taking turns business that always ends up benefitting BushInc and hurting the Dem PARTY.

You all know what a HUGE Clinton cheerleader Bartcop is....well...Ever read Bartcop's take of 1992?

http://www.bartcop.com/bush92.htm

He may be a Clinton devotee, but at least he has some honesty about WHY Clinton was able to win and to survive due to his alliances.

23. Bush lost in 1992 because of Ross Perot.
Clinton won with a plurality of the vote, not a majority.

I like Bartcop, but he is wrong on this.

31. He couldn't take equally. Where do you get that?
There are more Democrats to begin with.

72 million Dems
55 million Reps
42 million inds

Are you talking equal numbers of votes or equal percentage of votes? I'm guessing you don't know.

34. Not equally, but close enough to not be the REASON Clinton won. The RW claim
that it was the only reason was always their WISH to ignore the public's rising distrust of Poppy Bush's involvement in the crimes of Reagan-Bush operations over the years.

29. Nope - polls showed it wouldn't have made a difference. It's a myth of the RW that Perot
effected that race.

Think about it - Poppy Bush knew the final BCCI report was due out with a list of outstanding matters that still needed closer scrutiny and the cooperation of the oval office to GET that scrutiny. He expected to be impeached after that report's release. IranContra was even just a small part of the overall criminal operations.

Poppy Bush's LONGTIME pal and supporter Jackson Stephens switches to Clinton for 92 - btw, Stephens is also a named figure in BCCI along with Marc Rich - Poppy runs the worst campaign ever and - BCCI report and all its outstanding matters, IranContra and Iraqgate are deep-sixed by his Dem successor.

57. Cut the Middleman
It's pretty obvious that Opra is the deciding factor here. When Opra speaks, popularity for whomever she is backing...Dr. Phil, or Obama...rises.
It's kind of silly in the real world. We're talking President of the USA here, not Opra's favorite.
This goes a long way toward convincing me that the American people deserve what they get.

Oprah says "this book is groovy" and everybody runs out to buy it.

Oprah puts a hack shrink on her show and suddenly he's a household name with his own show.

If Oprah says to vote for Obama there are countless people who will do it just because she says to.

51. I've Said This Before Or Quoted It... Jackson Browne Wrote & Recorded
a song that has words in it that say "They sell us the President the same way they sell us our clothes and our cars. They sell us everything from youth to religion, the same time they sell us our wars."

Going on he wrote... "I want to know who the men in the shadows are, I want to hear somebody asking them why. They can be counted on to tell us who our enemies are, BUT they're never the ones to FIGHT or to DIE!"

While written in the 80's during the Reagan "event" I find the words have endured and are as important now as they were then, perhaps even more so. Some of the VERY SAME people have their "dirty fingers" running this country into the ground!

So it was especially interesting to me to see that it was Jackson Browne and Bonnie Raitt attending and singing at an event for John Edwards in California recently. Then having Harry Belafonte coming aboard in support of Edwards is yet another coup. These are people who have worked tirelessly in the trenches for years and years and have shown that their dedication to human rights has never wavered. Oprah has been a force in America, but not necessarily a political force, but then as you said, and I myself have said, substance has been missing because too many people are being guided by what the "MEDIA" sells us.

And before ANYONE says I'm knocking Obama, you can stop before you start. I think he's a viable candidate and give him credit, I'm only pointing out certain facts about how Americans let themselves be led by name recognition only or what is repeated over and over each an every day on MSM!!
