We're gong to need a really really good Attorney General next term.
Assuming our nominee doesn't trade pardons for support, we'll have alot of justice to be doing.

Who's best fit for the job?

It'll be nice to have a Justice Department again, eh?

I nominate John Dean

3. I don't think the President can appoint himself.
Edwards would work, tho.

10. Whomever it is, I hope the president is brave enough
to back him/her up when the mass media starts shouting down every single effort at punishing corruption.

You know they'll start smearing the AG as reactionary, partisan, "settling scores," "loose cannon," and being out of control the very moment any serious investigation gets underway.

11. Great point
Can you imagine how tough that job is going to be! The appointee will have to basically rebuild the justice department while attempting to keep if functional during the transition.

12. I wish Mario Cuomo was younger. He could rebuild the Justice Department.
I would look for diversity with this pick, but most of all someone of impeccable integrity and able to reach out to assure not just the attorneys but all the staff that the pursuit of justice with honor is paramount.

We've had some good ones.

15. You better HOPE the Dem pres. doesn't believe in protecting secrecy and privilege
of the powerful elite.

You better HOPE the Dem president BELIEVES in open government. For REAL. Not just words.

America can't AFFORD another president willing to protect secrecy and privilege of the Bushes.
