Clinton Tags Romney As a Flip-Flopper
http://www.guardian.co.uk/worldlatest/story/0,,-7084968,00.html

BOSTON (AP) - Republican Mitt Romney has delighted in his attacks on Hillary Rodham Clinton, questioning the Democratic presidential contender's experience by labeling her an ``intern'' and saying ``she has never run a corner store.''

The Clinton camp is fighting back with a singular rebuttal that harkens back to the GOP's devastating attacks on Democrat John Kerry in 2004. It's also sure to echo into next year should Romney emerge as his party's presidential nominee.

``Hillary Clinton needs no lessons on character from a man who switches his positions on a daily basis,'' said campaign spokesman Howard Wolfson.

Phil Singer, another Clinton spokesman, said after Romney focused on immigration a week ago: ``Considering how often he flip-flops, we wouldn't be surprised if Gov. Romney later decides he's for sanctuary cities - again.

1. Memo to Clinton campaign: Don't pull this sword out too early--Mittens
might be the R nominee, and this is our best weapon against him--don't dull it by overusing it now.

7. Ignoring the attempt to draw Obama into this, I'm just making the point
that the flip-flopping charges will lose their impact if started too early by Dems. By next October, people will be over it, and then all the ammo will have been spent.

8. Obama smackdowned Giuliani for calling him "naive" recently. Glad to see her following his lead.

Obama also smackdowned Bush buddy Aussie PM Howard for attacking him earlier this year.
He's got plenty of ammo left, too.

2. The Clinton camp is opening up a can of worms here, because she's
not exactly solid on many issues. Might come to bite her back.

4. Mitt's flipped on abortion and gay rights - and uses "intern" in his attacks on her.
I say go ahead, beat him with the stupid stick.

14. She is a pragmatist and something of a triangulator
She seeks to take consensus (mushy, to her critics)middle of the road positions on many issues - leading to concerns amongst those more ideological, both on the left and the right.

That is very different than being a flip flopper. On core cultural issues, while she may trim around the edges, she doesn't change much: she was pro choice twenty years ago, she is pro choice today. Pro gay rights (more or less), pro medical privacy rights, pro contraceptive rights, pro affirmative action, etc.

Willard, otoh, has 180 degree flip flopped on these very core issues where she has remained unchanged. He was pro choice, now he's anti choice. He was going to tbe the most gay friendly governor in Mass history, now he's a staunch bigot.

Big, big difference

5. I think the time has come for her to put a halt on these goons from running amuck
She doesn't have to punch yet, but a little ear twisting is fine
