Kucinich's skills at organization on display again. How often can supporter's be embarrassed by
candidate? Underestimated phone cost, and went ahead with callin without phone service. Just stupid.

2. Press Release
Nationwide call-in on Cheney impeachment short-circuited by heavy volume of interest
For Immediate Release - Monday, November 5, 2007

Washington, DC - Democratic Presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich is planning to re-schedule a nationwide conference call to discuss Articles of Impeachment against Vice President Richard B. Cheney after tonight's planned event encountered technical problems stemming largely from the overwhelming volume of calls from interested citizens.

The Kucinich campaign apologized for the snafu, explaining that staff had significantly underestimated the number of call-ins, and public interest in the issue exceeded technological capacity. The call will be re-scheduled within the next few days.

3. I think more significantly important is that the volume of people
wanting Cheny impeached short-circuited the call-in...

4. No it is the stupidity of announcing a nationwide conference call without
realizing it cost about $50,000-100,000.

13. I don't think its a big snafu.
The volume of calls is a surprise to me. Never would have thought it. It got hardly any mainstream media coverage in advance of the event.

7. Hey, it's excellent that they had more calls than they thought they would
That's a good sign that people are calling about impeachment of Cheney.

I don't see this mishap as a slight against Kucinich at all.

8. No excuse, he doesn't know how to get anything done. If he got 10 calls it would have overloaded
what he had setup.

9. You're assuming that about him
Sorry, I'm not a Kucinich voter, but there's nothing to indicate that it was only a few measly calls that swamped him.

Sorry, I find the fact that they had too many calls to continue on a positive thing that Americans are wanting to speak for impeachment of Cheney.

10. No calls were even taken, his staff did not order or install the equipment to hold a nationwide
conference call.

12. Do you have evidence for this statement?
As presented, it could just mean that interest was far higher than expected.

21. I guess that';s more embarassing than criminals as major funders
If the Clinton camp had any ability to be embarrassed, the tales of some of the sordid figures who have been major campaign contributors and organizers would also be embarrassing.

In comparative terms, I'd place underestimating the level of interest in an issue far lower on the embarrassment scale.

Is that all you can say about someone trying to hold the administration accountable instead of letting them slide with politics as usual in this unusual situation?

25. I set up con calls several times a week.
And I have had similar issues; you ask for RSVPs, add a percentage and set it up based on that information. The providers allocate the infrastructure requested, and there you go.

If a shitload of people call in, only the requested number of lines will be available. That's life for ya. It has nothing to do with DK, it has to do with the wild-west environment of our deregulated communications market.
