Waterboarding. It's so simple.
All you have to do is ask the candidates, regardless of political affiliation the following.

"First, do you believe waterboarding is torture? If your answer is no, would you be willing to submit yourself under tightly controlled conditions, with the supervision of doctors, etc. to be waterboarded on CNN, FOX, or any news channel of your choice to prove to the nation that it is not torture?"

Seems pretty simple to me. If it's not as bad as the 'liberal media' paint it to be, then those who believe just that should experience it firsthand. McCain is the obvious exception in that he HAS experienced torture, but in the same regard, he is not man enough to say it IS torture and oppose it completely and vociferously. That is a real shame.

It is so simple, I can't imagine why it hasn't been asked. :sarcasm:

oh yeah... now i remember.

1. situational morality
I hear Hannity et. al. ranting about Dems having "situational morality" but then support this.

The way I look at it is, if some random person kidnapped somebody and waterboarded them would they be charged with kidnapping or kidnapping and torture?

That's the answer to "is it torture?".

2. Waterboarding is NOT torture. It just has a PR problem.
Everyone will be OK with it as soon as they start calling it "hydrotherapy" ... which evokes images of relaxing spas. Think about it.

We submit terrorists to hydrotherapy. We are a good people. :)

Yeah that was :sarcasm:

3. Don't be so sure it was sarcasm.
I could all too easily see this administration deciding that even "waterboarding" (which sounds like recreation already) was not a "value-neutral" enough term to remove the "negative impression" too many people have of it.

"Hydrotherapeutic interviewing techniques" could be on the way, for all we know.

4. I disagree. I heard him on the news yesterday
and he definitely stated that water boarding was torture.

6. it is simple. people who want to torture say it isnt because they know its wrong and ineffectual.
but they LIKE to torture their 'enemies'. they are sadomasochistic bastards.
they have their mindless supporters who will parrot any position they take.

everyone else knows the difference between right and wrong.

7. Make it an hour minimum or until they admit it is torture.
Whichever is first.
