Kucinich voted to override the veto.
Edited on Thu Oct-18-07 12:42 PM by redqueen
Just wanted to highlight that little fact for the benefit of those who wanted so badly to paint him as an idiot / heartless bastard / (pick your insult) for voting against the bill initially.

I thought then that his vote was made on principle, because he knew the bill would pass anyway... it's good to see his actions bear that out.

11. Seriously though, I'm glad he did this.
I think he learned a lesson about treating his votes as important decisions since the last one.

Ah well!

Peace. :)

9. Yes, any Democrat who is not for Kucinich is a Republican.
All 97% of them!

12. Well, many have the ability to change for the better quickly...
while some do not, or worse: change for the worst.

3. I had no doubt about that. His vote was never about protecting tobacco interests.

7. Of course he did.
He said he would. I disagreed with him about his initial vote, but I knew he'd come through here.

13. Yeah, this was aimed more at those...
who were REVELING in that vote... as if it indicated that he, by his unwillingness to compromise (guffaw), was the enemy of uninsured children or something. :eyes:

8. He actually had a decent reason to vote no initally.
I am glad to see he did what he said he would do, and vote to over-ride this veto.

20. I agree, it brought publicity to some of the less than fair parts
of the bill. Dennis always does a great job pointing out injustices. Like pointing out the attempted privatization of Iraq's oil industry when no one else would.

17. Did you see Dennis on the Colbert Report?

I always TiVo that and the Daily Show and watch them whenever so I just watched it last night, though it was an earlier show. He was very funny. If you haven't seen it see if there's a video online, surely there is. They didn't talk about politics, it was all about all the things Dennis carries in his pockets.

19. I did see it...
it seemed to me he looked a little disappointed to be participating in the humorous bit but unable to tell people what he's so passionate about.

Hopefully some people not in the know might have grown curious and checked him out. :)
