Y'all wonder why the Feds don't go after the noose-hangers in Jena?
From the House Judiciary Committee hearings today we learned that:

Apparently the Justice Department "elected not to" file hate crime charges against the folks who hung nooses in Jena.

Who made the call?

This guy (the U.S. Attorney for the district):

Meet Mr. Donald W. Washington

His accomplishments:

"Previously, Mr. Washington held a variety of positions with Conoco Inc from 1982-1996. He and his family moved to Louisiana in 1993, where he served as Chief Counsel for Conoco's Gulf of Mexico Division until his departure from Conoco in 1996.

Mr. Washington received a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering in 1977 from the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York. He received a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from South Texas College of Law in 1989."

3. The Justice Dept.'s Counsel (not him) seems to be the one making the decisions
This guy seemed like an empty suit in the Committee proceedings I saw.

5. hang on, I just saw house judiciary hearings in your Op. Are we talking Rep
John Conyers? any members of the black caucus at the hearings? Because they rock. And you know they are not going to accept nooses hanging around town.

6. Yes, it was Chairman Conyer's Committee
I only saw Reps. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and Keith Ellison asking questions as I caught it late.

They were both magnificent.
