Clinton Leads Among Every Major Subgroup of Democrats
Not only has Sen. Hillary Clinton been leading the race for the Democratic presidential nomination by more than 20 points over her closest competitor, she beats Sen. Barack Obama among every major subgroup of Democrats. This includes men, women, whites, blacks, young voters, and seniors. Obama comes closest to tying her with highly educated Americans as well as among young men.

Her strongest leads are among seniors, women, "conservatives," and those in the South and East.

However, she also leads Obama by smaller but still double-digit margins among most of the natural counterparts to these groups, including men, blacks, young adults, independents, college graduates, self-described moderates and liberals, and residents of the South and Midwest.

1. Unsurprising...
People know Presidential material when they see it...

Even folks that don't agree with her on everything tend to see a strong leader who they can have confidence would not go into something without all of her ducks in a row...

She is the anti-Bush...calm, cool, deliberative, well-spoken, and extremely intelligent

2. How would she do among Independent voters?
They are a substantial part of the electorate. If a majority of them don't like her, she loses the election.

3. What about
the subgroup that wants to get out of Iraq now, the subgroup that feels that mandatory private health-care is a bad idea, or the subgroup that opposes war with Iran? I'm assuming they not count because they don't represent a 'block' of one ethnicity, age group, or gender? Does it mean that people who feel that way are an overwhelming minority of each age, income, and gender group? Or does it mean that an abundance of people recognize the name Clinton more than they recognize Obama or Edwards?

12. Sorry, those groups aren't MAJOR subgroups.
Only groups who are in favor of Hillary count as major.

I really hope Obama and Edwards start some serious push-polling. It's more than warranted in this case.

"Hillary Clinton just voted to go to war with Iran. Does this make you more or less likely to vote for her?"

"Hillary Clinton wants to force you to pay insurance companies for your health care. Does this make you more or less likely to vote for her?"

"The insurance companies Hillary Clinton wants to force you to pay are major contributors to her campaign. Does this make you more or less likely to vote for her?"

Now THOSE would be some interesting poll results.

Not by a long shot. Maybe Texas Dems are not a proper subgroup of the Democratic party?

27. yeah, they are more of a square root
if X=subgroup, and y= party, and = State party then it's quite simple .

17. eprimaries are not representative of anything
self-selecting 'electorates' have as much statistical validity as an online poll on CNN.

11. Thanks for the charts.
I'm one of those people who understands concepts visually, much more so than reading the actual statistics.

I'm a post-grad, single white mother and I love her. I wonder if my group was counted?

14. I'll bet Hillary gains support everytime a Hillary-hater says something vile about her.
Edited on Fri Sep-28-07 07:30 AM by Perry Logan
Just the other day, a DUer said he thought he'd vomit if Hillary got the nomination. Like most Hillary-bashers, he sounded tremendously proud of himself.

If people are willing to stoop so low to hurt a candidate, she must be good.
