Some thoughts from a long-time Clark supporter....

I've been a supporter of Clark since 2003. While hoping that Clark would run this time, the past few weeks I have realized that is increasingly unlikely. Clark has done the political calculus. He understands what is possible and what is not. He's a realist.

I've also been thinking the last week that a Clinton/Clark ticket is more likely than not. I think it's even more likely now. Last night on DU I posted a poll asking, "who do you think Hillary will choose as her VP should she win the nomination." Frankly, when posting the poll I was interested to see how many DU'ers would share my opinion that Clark is the most likely choice.

Clark is a Democrat of the highest caliber. Meaning, he will do whatever necessary to ensure Democratic victory in 08'. While I think Clark will certainly be offered SOS if he is not the VP, I believe VP is more likely because the first priority will be to win, and Clark would bring so much to the ticket to undermine Republican attacks. Clinton understands this. She knows what it takes to defeat them, and so does Clark. It certainly takes the wind out of the sails of Rudy's recent attack to have the endorsement of Clark's four stars...

Yes, I'm a little disappointed that it's certain now it won't be Clark at the top of the ticket, but on the other hand.

I'm not going to attack Obama. I haven't even decided for sure if I will vote for Obama or Clinton in the primary. I will see how things go the next few months, and what I hear from both of them.

To be frank, however, my gut tells me Clinton is going to be the nominee as much as it tells me the ticket is going to Clinton/Clark.

We will see. Will be interesting to see how things develop.

3. I can visualize Clinton/Clark...

it seems plausible. With her political connections and his expertise they would make a great team. I also like Gore but I think he's found his mission in life along a different path.

On edit: Obama and Edwards are also pretty good but there's something specifically about a Clinton/Clark ticket that makes sense.

5. She can win Arkansas without Wes

I expect a different pick if she's the nom (someone who gets her a battleground state), although Wes would be fine with me.

6. It's not about individual states.

It's about going for a sweep.

Clark can bring in independents and open-minded Republicans who respect his credentials. He would be the perfect choice to fend off the angle of attack we all know the Republicans are going to take against her.

I believe both Clinton and Clark have done political calculus. They know how to win this thing.

8. I think Clark would put alot more states in play than just Arkansas

Respect to the point of reverence for the military is a huge factor in most southern and midwestern states, and among many gop leaners in general. Having a four-star for a running mate would mute any republiklan efforts to portray her as anti-military, which I'd bet would be a huge part of their general election strategy against her.

I actually believe the ticket would drum up some
excitement.

As things stand now, unless there is some earthquake in
HRC Campaign or unless something like Al Gore deciding
to enter the race; it looks like Hilary is headed
for our Candidacy.

Clark would add representation to the ticket from a
different section of the party. This is the best
thing.
