is a chance for House and Senate members to go back home and see how their constituents are doing...
They do hold town meetings, contact groups of supporters, interest groups vital to their district and get back to be with the people that elected them to represent them in Washington...
And also to get away from the incestuous relationship between lobbyist and House and Senate members...
Sure many of the people who serve in the Congress will take a chance to spend some time with their families, get in a round of golf or two, head out to California to raise money (I kid Dennis, I kid)...
But for the most part, they just get a chance, if they are really smart, to see what ordinary people are thinking...
They are being bombarded by EMail and telephone and letter campaigns cooked up by special interest groups that have nothing to do with the people they represent...
They need to get back to where they came from to put some needed perspective into their decision making process..
BTW, doesn't it smack of a PR set-up by the Bush Administration to take pokes at the Democratic leadership about taking vacations when he is out criticizing the Iraqi Parliament for taking a month off...
