Office of one of our Florida Blue Dogs said an odd thing today...
I was told it takes courage to vote against your party. I asked why that took more courage than standing up to the demands of Bush and Gonzales.

It was said sincerely. That is what is so upsetting. More questions gave vague answers but showed they did know what they voted for.

Another office in another state sounded almost as upset as I am about the FISA vote.

But to say it takes courage to vote against your party in a case of personal freedoms was upsetting.

3. What she/he meant to say was...
it take courage to vote against every American. That is the bottom line, they *ucked us all with one stroke of the pen. Very courageous I might add.

4. This Blue dog and his ilk are in denial about their "courageous" votes against the party. Really,
it's just the opposite-cowardice.

5. Voting against NE liberals??
Is that what they meant? It takes courage to be a patriotic southern Dem and vote against those crazy ACLU types? (More or less.)

And what do we do about that mentality.

6. If they voted against their party they
would have voted against the FISA bill. Because no matter what the &*^ Dogs say they are REPUBLICANS. They desecrate the democratic party.

8. Give him this quote
"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams

9. they're only voting in support of their beliefs.
I mean, aren't they? Don't they vote the way they do because that's what they actually believe?

10. The person was just very sure they did the right thing.
It really stunned me when she said it. I said they give away our freedoms and then go on vacation, and that blew her mind. She said they are not vacationing they are working. I figured I'd better get off the phone before she got really mad.

I called to another state...the girl did sound sympathetic. She said "you did have to end my day on a sour note"...but she chuckled.

11. Courage? Sounds more like
He was sucking up to the right wing constituents back home. Courage would be actually having balls and saying to constituents, I'm going to vote a particular way because its the right thing to do, and you can defeat me in an election if you disagree. By voting with the GOP, this representative is just sucking up to southern yellow dog Democrats who register Democrat, but vote Republican. What a sorry-ass coward.
