2. Welcome to DU!
I'm a resident of Mississippi also, though originally from Georgia. Ol' Haley is a piece of work, isn't he? He certainly is not a bit like me, since I'm not rich and I'm a yellow-dog Democrat. :hi: :dem:

4. Oh, they're voting against gays, blacks, and abortion
nothing else really matters to them. I've almost given up arguing; there's just no point. And Haley is pretty much already free to do as he pleases.

5. Lobbyist is not like you and Me. I do not get to buy my way into the house of the President.
I do not get my views heard. If I want something done. I can not pick up the phone and have an open ear to the President. I do not get to buy his vote. I do not have enough power to persuade him to veto a bill. I do not get to send him a $100,000 to put one of my friends in power. This post is Bull Shit.

7. I understand what you are saying.
Lobbyists also represent liberal and progressive causes.

8. Hillary is horrible; here's what Eisenhower said
compare Hillary's lying, corporate-sucking words to what Eisenhower said. One of them demonstrated a clear understanding of the problem; the other was out for campaign contributions. There's just no nice way to say it: Hillary is horrible.

Here's what Eisenhower said:

In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the militaryindustrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.

We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together.
