Gonzales. There is another program that cannot be talked about! important!
Remember during the first hearing about illegal wiretapping, he carefully worded his answers to pertain to only one program that was being discussed. He would say things like "the program in question bla bla bla." At that time it seemed so obvious that there was another program that no one knew about that might be abusing people's rights but as long as it was not the program in question then he was not lying. Now look at today's testimony. He says the same types of things when he is caught in a lie about what he said earlier and how he corrected his statements with a reporter. He clearly makes a point to mention "other intelligence activities." These other activities are actually another program that cannot be named because no one is aware of them. It is these programs where the most abuses are taking place. This is just my theory. But, if you listen closely to his answers, especially in his first testimony about the illegal wiretapping program you will hear him over and over again specifically mention the "program in question" so as not to lie about what is being done in other programs.

5. Seem to recall Madame Speaker indicating that we the people don't know the half of it:
to wit, we don't have a clue as to the scope of this regime's criminality and the extent of the violations of our constitutional rights through covert illegal acts?

6. Thom Hartmann picked up on this today ...
He was speculating that, based on the timing (around the '04 election), it might have been a program designed to spy on political adversaries ... Hopefully this little slip o' Fredo's tongue won't go unnoticed by other committee members.

9. "The disagreement that occurred ... was about other intelligence activities," Gonzales said.

Congress is also examining Bush's warrantless domestic spying program, which critics have denounced as illegal, and Gonzales' role in it.

Lawmakers noted that although Gonzales testified earlier this year "there has not been any serious disagreement" about Bush's warrantless domestic spying program, former Deputy Attorney General James Comey told Congress in May that a number of top Justice Department officials threatened to quit over the issue.

"The disagreement that occurred ... was about other intelligence activities," Gonzales said. "It was not about the terrorist surveillance program."

"Mr. Attorney General, do you expect us to believe that?" Specter fired back.

"It looks like you've deceived us," Democratic Sen. Charles Schumer of New York told Gonzales.

11. Comey's testimony lends credence to this.
The date that the "program" was supposed to be re-authorized, according to Comey, was March 11, 2004. Comey also testified that the "program" was reviewed and re-authorized every 6 months.

Which date is 6 months from March 11?

These "programs" were authorized on 9/11, which means the "programs" were already ready to go, and the criminal cabal was looking for a chance to use them.

12. But what if he's lying about there being another program?
If you believe Comey's testimony, then Gone-zales is making the whole thing up in order to avoid lying about the "program in question" being warrantless wiretapping. And if you think Gone-zales is being truthful, then all he has to do is explain why he went to Ashcroft's sickbed in order to bypass Comey. Either way, he's screwed himself--Dick Cheney must be proud!
