Journalists stage protest against Bill Clinton's team during visit to Dominican Republic
Edited on Tue Jul-17-07 11:02 PM by antiimperialist
Bill Clinton visited a hospital in the Dominican Republic today. Clinton's security staff gave preference to international reporters, who were placed in front of national Dominican photographers and reporters, who proceeded to place their cameras and equipment on the floor as a sign of protest. (See Clinton can be seen towards the right)

The article in the Listin Diario (The New York Times equivalent in the Dominican, founded 1889) narrates how Clinton's security staff tried to keep Clinton unaware of what was going on, hiding the cameras and equipment on the floor, but Clinton found out, after the national journalists waited "several hours".
The ex-president walked towards the national reporters and explained what his visit was about: To find out what medicine was needed, if any, so that he and his foundation could provide it.

Link to the article, in Spanish only. I couldn't find it in the American press:

I think Clinton was classy and his staff was rude.
