Snow singed over remark on Iraq heat
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2007/07/14/snow-singed-over-remark-on-iraq-heat

White House spokesman Tony Snow was left a bit verbally singed Friday after suggesting to reporters that Iraqi lawmakers — under fire in Washington for failing to make progress on meeting political benchmarks — were taking August off to escape Baghdad’s scorching summer temperatures.

Asked by ABC News correspondent Martha Raddatz during a press briefing if Iraqi officials were planning to take August off, despite another progress report due in September, Snow said, “It looks like they may, yes, just like the U.S. Congress is.”

Pressed as to whether American officials had tried to talk Iraqi leaders out of their vacation, Snow said, “You know, it’s 130 degrees in Baghdad in August. I’ll pass on your recommendation.”

“Well, Tony, Tony, I’m sorry,” Raddatz replied. “There are a lot of things that happen by September, and it’s 130 degrees for the U.S. military also on the ground.”

3. Priceless
The poor Iraqi Parliament can't work because it's 130 degrees, but our troops are supposed to fight on without a break. THe sad part was that someone had to actually point this out to Snow.

I somehow think that we've managed to get air condidtioning in to whatever buildings the Iraqi Parliament meets in. :eyes: The way things are going I wonder how many of them will even come back from vacation.

5. I would like to know if they live in the Green Zone and if they are staying there during August.
Noting the increasing attacks on the Green Zone or the "Emerald City" it would be significant if they were leaving the area.

Another possibility is that they have no intention of agreeing to the oil deal and are waiting out the clock, just like George.

4. I forgot the most important part!!!
My Air Force buddy added his own commentary at the end of the e-mail when he sent me this article. Here's what he said:

"Good thing our founding fathers weren't pussies. They sat in sweltering Philly with no AC wearing fucking wool and wigs."
