2. I think maybe we should be hoping for a Romney primary victory?
Edited on Wed Jun-20-07 10:10 AM by Tarheel_Dem
I wonder how those numbers are affected with a Fred Thompson thrown in? I'd be willing to bet Romney will be #2 on the ticket. Edwards numbers look really, really good in the general.

13. Romney has about 50% name ID. That is why he does so badly in national polls nt

15. Well, I think that even after his name gets out there.....
people are gonna be very cautious because of his religion; I know that sounds awful, but realistically it's a factor. I don't think a Mormon, not unlike a Scientologist, is going to have a whole lot of support here in the Bible Belt. That's why I said Romney may be #2 on the Repub ticket, but he certainly won't be #1.

5. Notice how the naysayers have ceased beginning every rebuttal with...
But Rasmussen says.....

Now it has morphed into...

But the LA Times Poll....

(course I guess the fact that many of them were bashing the LA Times as a right wing rag just a few months ago over its Hugo Chavez editorial has escaped them)

4. "all three Dems"
right, all three media-annointed leaders.

Not that I think the other 5 would do better against the Repubs in a poll at this point, but it's just one more example of marginalizing all but those that the media chooses to cover.

6. If Richardson or Biden begins to gain traction...
You can be assured they will start polling them too...

11. sure, they might...
but their chances of doing so are limited by the media frenzy over the "top 3".

12. Possibly at this point but Rasmussen is the only one to do head to head with the other candidates

7. SaveElmer, you are my favorite Hillaryite.
I respect you for playing fair whenever you can. I know this is off-topic, but I just wanted to say that.

9. I'll wait until Fred Thompson enters to judge.
He's going to be tough for us to beat. In fact, I don't think we can beat him with our current crop.

Call me pessimistic or realistic, if you must, but I see the near-orgasms his candidacy is causing in the Heartland.

10. Except against Romney, the gap is a bit bigger
IMO, that gap will fill in somewhat when Romney gets more name recognition. He can't get any right now with all of the Fred Thompson love fest.

14. Here are the actual margins (Edwards does the best)
HRC over Ghouliani +4
Edwards over Ghouliani +5
Obama over Ghouliani +5

HRC over McCain +3
Edwards over McCain +6
Obama over McCain +2

HRC over Romney +13
Edwards over Romney +29
Obama over Romney +21

Totals:

Edwards +40
Obama +28
HRC +20

As someone who has long been skeptical of HRC's GE strength, I have to note that recent polls seem to show her actually improving in GE trial heats.
