Edwards to attend Chicago fundraiser

CHICAGO - Democratic presidential hopeful John Edwards is expected in Chicago today for a fundraiser.

The former North Carolina senator plans to attend the 5:15 p.m. event at BB's Bar and Restaurant.
Edwards was in the city for another fundraiser last month, and he also addressed an organization that advocates for working women.

During that visit, the senator acknowledged that it wouldn't be easy to court local support because the area is home turf for Illinois Senator Barack Obama. But he told reporters that Illinois is a critical state, and he intended to campaign here.

Yesterday Edwards was in Texas for a $15-a-plate fundraiser, which attracted a crowd of about 800 people.

2. I thought Hillary was FROM Chicago. Is she conceding it to Obama? Glad Edwards didn't.

3. Yes, she's from the Chicago area and, no, she hasn't conceded it.

She's had some fundraisers there already, and she said that she intended to compete everywhere, even Illinois.

but I would imagine that Obama has a steady lead there.

The last poll--which it should be noted was in January--had her within 6% of Obama.

5. I hope she attends the YearlyKos event....

The Trib mentioned it's one of the Top Five events in Chicago this year, it would mean a lot to her hometown crowd.
