President Carter: Bush worst in history in international relations
I wish more Democrats spoke with the candor and honesty of President Carter!

==LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Former President Carter says
President Bush's administration is "the worst in history" in international relations, taking aim at the White House's policy of pre-emptive war and its Middle East diplomacy.==

=="I think as far as the adverse impact on the nation around the world, this administration has been the worst in history," Carter told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette in a story that appeared in the newspaper's Saturday editions. "The overt reversal of America's basic values as expressed by previous administrations, including those of George H.W. Bush and
Ronald Reagan and
Richard Nixon and others, has been the most disturbing to me."==

=="We now have endorsed the concept of pre-emptive war where we go to war with another nation militarily, even though our own security is not directly threatened, if we want to change the regime there or if we fear that some time in the future our security might be endangered," he said. "But that's been a radical departure from all previous administration policies."

Carter, who won a Nobel Peace Prize in 2002, criticized Bush for having "zero peace talks" in
Israel. Carter also said the administration "abandoned or directly refuted" every negotiated nuclear arms agreement, as well as environmental efforts by other presidents.

Carter also offered a harsh assessment for the White House's Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives, which helped religious charities receive $2.15 billion in federal grants in fiscal year 2005 alone.==

2. I share President Carter's disgust.
Rather than becoming the big man on the block, as the neocons dreamed, this country has lost enormous international influence under the criminal Bush cabal. Our enormous debt gives other countries more power over us and we have lost the moral high ground to influence our allies. Sad days for my Nation. I grieve and rage along with President Carter.

3. How often have ex-Presidents critized sitting Presidents?
I completely agree with Carter's assessment but I'm surprised he said it publically. I think the tradition has been not to do this, so Jimmy must be really disgusted!

4. How often have we had a president like George W. Bush?
Always lots of debate around here, but my answer is, never. The tradition was for the most part a positive one, but unprecedented times call for all to speak out, and to do so strongly. Kudos to President Carter. Except he should not have limited it to international relations.

6. Ironic
Although Carter is correct, I find it ironic that the original
worst president of the United States is the one to talk.

8. Carter created more jobs in 4 years than both Bushes in 10 years
Carter: 10 million in four years
Bush I: 2.6 million
Bush II: 3.9 million

How did Reagan do? 16 million in 8 years. In other words, the "great" Reagan economy averaged 8 million jobs per term--less than Carter.

Carter has been given a raw deal by media spin. He was not a great president but he was far better than both Bushes and better than Reagan (who tripled the national debt during his tenure).
