If Ron Paul and Mike Gravel ran as a "unity" or Libertarian ticket what percentage of the vote would
they get, and would they Nader the Democratic nominee or the Repu nominee?

1. They'd get no airtime, no corporate bucks, and have to do
their own convention.

It would fizzle out faster than a Perot/Baldwin ticket

3. Yeah, take away the Electoral College
and corporate campaign financing and they'd get a sizable number of votes though. But as it is now, nada.

2. Best guess?
About 3%, roughly split between the libertarian right and the libertarian left.

If 2008 ends up being close enough to where that would make a difference we have bigger problems.

4. If they could get 2-3% that would be doing well
As candidates, I see Gravel and Paul more as Naders, not Perots.

Of course, something may happen in the next few months to change that perception.

Every now and then somebody says that 2008 could be a good year for an independent candidate, but I don't see one coming forward. All I see it being right now is a bad year for Republicans.
