Equal Opportunity! Guys, who are the most attractive women in politics?
Edited on Sun Apr-29-07 04:04 PM by Bicoastal
Disclaimer: Since the ladies have their own thread devoted to this subject, I hardly think it's sexist to give the men their own take on brains+looks in Washington today. Any accusations of chauvinism should be jointly directed to the OP of the Okay ladies. Do you find any political men attractive? thread. :)

That having been said, guys naturally have less babes to choose from in a male-dominated field. To give you an idea, my list so far contains 3 representatives, 3 foreigners, and one celebrity :

1. Elizabeth Kucinich: Living proof that nice guys don't always finish last
2. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ): Much cuter than Jim Kolbe.
3. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin (D-ND): Recently married, she undoubtedly shattered many congressional pages' fantasies.
4. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D-FL): The anti-Katherine Harris in almost every respect.
5. Segolene Royal: Liberal politics and a certain "je ne sais quoi"--what's in the water over there?
6. Samantha Bee: Not a politican or even a real journalist--who cares? I like funny women.
7. Natalie Portman: More than just a pretty face, she campaigned for Kerry in 2004 and genuinely knows her stuff, according to Fareed Zakria.

Who else?

16. I'm a woman who loves women...
So I hope that it's ok for me to second your choice! Our governor is gorgeous, smart, funny, articulate and up to her neck in Republican bullshit!

Not bad to look at though...

2. This Is Sexist
to point out the hot "women" in politics, but not to point out the hot men. Maybe that's a double standard, but it is somewhat justified.

For so long women were valued solely for their looks while men were valued for their accomplishments. Men do not generally have to fight to be taken seriously or respected for their brains.

Katherine Harris is just dreadful, as is Ann Coulter. And look at how often insults towards them degenerate into criticizing their looks. We don't do that with Dick Cheney or Bill O'Reilly. Look at how poor Chelsea Clinton's looks were criticized when she was a teenager, especially in contrast to Gore's daughters being called babes. But no one paid any attention to how Al Gore's son looked.

SO - when we comment on handome men in politics, it is a turnabout of an old game. When we comment on women, it is reverting back to more chauvanistic times.

By the way, Chelsea Clinton did grow up to be a lovely young lady, why isn't she on your list?

(see, I'm not totally militant about this, but understand why it is a little sexist to comment on a political woman's looks, but not a man's)

13. I almost posted, jokingly, "What a sexist thread!" on that other one...
...but I've been having the heat targeting me lately, so I didn't even joke in that manner. :P

(This was long before this thread was even created, btw.)

3. I'm not a guy...
...but a lot of guys find our new governor Sarah Palin attractive. She's a Republican, but so far she's doing okay, trying to stay as nonpartisan as possible.
