I think of this debate as going to eat at a reputable cafeteria. All the food is good and safe, unlike the food at the PissedBurger place run by Bush across the street. We may prefer some dishes over others, but all of them are excellent.

2. What a contrast with the Republican candidates!
All of which are devoid of ideas outside of yelling 9-11 about everything.

3. Yeah, no one in drag, no one lying about hunting, and no one
singing about bombing Iran. A classy bunch of Dems.

like McCain did on The Daily Show yesterday.

6. I thought they all did well.
Early debates are almost always vanilla. :)

9. Brian Williams wasn't pitching softballs either!
I thought they all did great, and their supporters should feel pretty proud of their candidates.

15. I know a lot of people will hate the questions, and some were silly
but I'd rather see that than a bunch of predictable questions that lets them just fall back on practiced lines and speeches.

11. The media-named "lower tier" candidates showed themselves to be on a par
with the "top tier." I am watching the post-debate show with Tweety and Keith, and it is pretty good to watch the candidates expand on their views.

16. Anyone of them would be 1 million times better than GW Bush.
I think that because Hillary and Obama are ahead in the polls, that simply because they didn't mess up that they would win by default. But I honestly, from the bottom of my heart, think they all did well.

I'm curious if the rules will be followed as well and a courteous atmosphere will prevail with the "other side" next week.

I have to say I agree...I thought they did very well...and most importantly, the focus was on the true enemy...not on scoring points against each other....
