POLL: Americans favor raising taxes on the super wealthy by 2:1 margin
...such as the one proposed by Hillary.

Poll: 59% Agree with Clinton's Tax Plan
April 24, 2007

New York Senator Hillary Clinton (D) Fifty-nine percent (59%) of American adults agree with New York Senator Hillary Clinton’s call to raise taxes on wealthy Americans. A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that just 31% are opposed.

While most Americans (and Democratic Presidential hopefuls) support the notion of raising taxes on the wealthy, the issue is challenging politically. Two-thirds (67%) of those who earn less than $60,000 a year believe that raising taxes on the wealthy is a good idea. Support for this policy falls to 49% among those earning more than $60,000 annually.

Thirty-four percent (34%) of Americans believe their own taxes will go up if Clinton is elected. That number increases to 45% among those who earn more than $60,000 a year and 52% among those earning upwards of $100,000 annually.

Earlier surveys have found that most Americans believe higher taxes hurt the economy.

1. They're the only ones benefitting from the "Bush economic miracle"..
they damned well SHOULD be asked to pony up a higher percentage of taxes. These bastards have been making out like fat rats, TAKE, TAKE, TAKE, TAKE! :grr: Well, it's high time they started to GIVE BACK some of the money they've stolen from the taxpayers in the form of corporate welfare. The Bush tide has only raised the luxury yachts, leaving we poor folks in the dinghies to smash against the rocks.

2. It always amazes me the repubs that
think if they make $60,000+ that they're considered wealthy & are against this.... sheesh. And hopefully this would go hand in hand with tax cuts for poor/middle class.
