Conyers: Justice Dept. fails to comply with subpoena
http://rawstory.com/news/2007/Conyers_Justice_Dept._fails_to_comply_0416.html

The Justice Department failed to comply with a subpoena issued by the House Judiciary Committee last week, RAW STORY has learned. The subpoena sought documents related to the firing of 8 US Attorneys by the Justice Department.

The Committee, which has been leading the investigation into the US Attorneys matter in the House of Representatives, noted that there was a 2 PM deadline for compliance with the subpoena for documents that either were not supplied, or sent in redacted format.

to strip the veneer off the notion that we live in a Democratic Republic and indeed are living in a unitary executive driven dictatorship. Once Condi thumbs her nose at the coming subpoena there will be little doubt that the bush administration could care less about the Constitution of the United States and its laws and that he and he alone decides who may ask questions and to whom they may be asked and who has to or doesn't have to answer questions and whether or not there will be oaths or transcripts or witnesses and who is or is not an enemy of the State. Frank Zappa seems to have seen the future when he penned the words that reside in my sig line....I think we are nearly there.

"The illusion of freedom will continue as long as it's profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they 'll just take down the scenery, they will pull back the curtains, they will move the tables and chairs out of the way, and you'll see the brick wall at the back of the theatre".
