The vote was 50 - 48 I heard and Hagel voted with the Democrats. Anyone know about Lieberman?

6. I have no idea
Even Israel now realizes they screwed the pooch when they helped get us into this one.

Lieberman may still see the Iraq war as a stepping stone to neutralizing Israel's other enemies.

Or maybe he's crazy enough that he just loves WAR.

13. Most US Jews are against this war as well. Around 80%, I read recently, IIRC.

17. I'm not a bit surprised by that
because everybody I know thinks it's a clusterfuck, no matter what ethnic heritage they claim.

10. Thanks. I sure don't want anyone to have any emergencies, but
in this case, I'm glad at least one Pub wasn't there!

12. Isn't Smith up for re-election?
Oregon is very anti the fiasco in Iraq. He may be seeing the end of his career if he continues supporting the failed policies that his constituents challenged long ago. Just being pro-environment may no longer be enough in Oregon.
