TV station in Baton Rouge reporting that Blanco will not run for Gov
http://www.wafb.com/Global/story.asp?S=6254050&nav=menu57_1

(snip): Sources: Blanco Will Not Seek Re-Election

"Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco will formally announce this evening that she will NOT seek re-election, numerous political sources tell WAFB 9NEWS. Blanco was elected Governor of Louisiana in November 2003, becoming the first woman to ever hold the office.

As recently as last week, Blanco said she would be a candidate. "My plan is to continue running," Blanco told reporters last Wednesday." (end snip)

So who will it be? I don't think John Breaux will run. I think he was the "Big stick" to get Blanco to drop out. I think it will be one of these three:

1. Chris John
2. Mitch Landrieu
3. Charlie Melancon

If I were a betting person, I would put my money on Chris John.

1. Breaux...That's why the Repukes are already airing an anti-Breaux
ad claiming he's not eligible.

2. Maybe, but I really don't think Breaux wants the pay cut
I can't see him coming back here and giving up the millions in lobbying money he makes. Should be an interesting few weeks until he announces his intentions.

3. Chris John is our best choice (of the three given).
He can win. Melancon can win too, but then there is a good chance a Repub could get his seat. The same problem applies to Landrieu's seat.

If not John, then Breaux.

If we can keep this seat and pick-up Kentucky, we would have 29 Governorships. I'd like to keep our winning streak going through this year and into next.

4. If there's one state we MUST hold onto, the "Gret Stet" is it.
The recovery effort is dismal enough as it is. Can you imagine what it would look like under a Gov. FuckmookJindal? "Everyone will get their recovery checks, just as soon as they sign away their property to Bright Sunshiny Tomorrow, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Halliburton..."

Mitch Landrieu? That'd be Mitch "Lost to the Worst Mayor in American History" Landrieu? He's supoosed to beat someone who doesn't always have his foot in his mouth? :scared:
