1. Another Vietnam reminder...
I remember posters with pictures of Nixon on them.

Caption: Would you buy a used war from this man?

2. Same old ads
They kind of look like the weird ads that Santorum came out with late in his campaign last year.

Scary narrator voice, we can support the troops and our President or we can die from Iraqis who will follow us home. (Complete with footage of a mushroom cloud bomb.)

How 2003.

4. They are modelling their ads on the famous Daisy ad from 1964
The Islamic Terrorists are so horrific that we can't ever, ever, ever leave the War. Ever. It would make the terrorists feel too good.

Obviously, no mention of US deaths, the cost of the war, or the cost of the Iraqi people.

5. Well, at least they will be wasting money on this
and not on candidate support. But, yeah, these ads are a subtle as a bag of hammers falling on your head. Be afraid, be afraid all the time and let us take care of everything. (Go buy something already.)

6. Doesn't logic dictate
Since they say we're safe as long as we're there - (fighting them there instead of here) - that we don't need no steenkin' Dept. Of Homeland Security?

don't worry - be happy

--

Oh geeze, she's emphasizing the word 'moron'.... regarding supporting the troops but not the war - being an oxymoron...

Don't think I can take much of this.

7. I know. But these RW extremists need to be watched
They are constantly trying to move the goalline and make it seem like they represent the mainstream of thought in America. They do not. These views being expounded at this news conference are held by about 30% of the American public.

11. what does "winning" mean in the context of the disaster
that is Iraq?

These right wing types seem to think war is a like a football game - it ends, everyone goes home...

I don't have the stomach for watching this sort of thing anymore.
