7. Smith OR. The only one.
Three defections on the Democratic side: Lieberman, Nelson (NE), and Pryor.

8. We have two "Dem" traitors: Pryor and Nelson.
Imagine that: Nelson voted with the repukes. Lieberman, too, no surprise. Gordon Smith voted with us; he should switch parties!!!

BUT Hagel voted with the repukes!!! That proves it to me: they have gotten to him!!! Rove, Cheney, someone did.

9. Hagel Is One Of Them, Sir, No One Had To Get To Him
Smith still needs defeating in '08, and this will not save him from it, either.

10. Combined with his strange non-announcement this week
something just suggests that he has had a 'talking to', to say the least. Think how strident he was last month against the escalation. This is a radical shift.

11. He Is A Republican, Sir
And so cannot be looked to for enlightened leadership, honor, or any other good thing that is creditable to a man.

He is up for re-election on '08, unless he decides to retire, as is seeming likely. Accordingly, he makes some pious noise in the direction of the people's evident will on occassions. But he does not, and will not, ever, act against his party chieftains. The same is true of all so-called 'moderate' Republicans.

12. I agree with the magistrate.
The "moderates" tend to have a habit of rolling over.

13. Except for Gordon Smith. At least this time.
By the way, McCain didn't even bother to vote, he was out in his campaign bus. They weren't even worried.
