No more eastern Dems for POTUS!
Please, there must be Democrat from west of the Missisippi to run for POTUS. I have had enough of the Liebermans, Hillarys, Bidens, and Kerrys for one lifetime!
Doesn't anyone from Nebraska want to be president?

21. And he owns his own voting machines.
While he's been acting somewhat human lately, I wouldn't want him to be nominated and then "win" the election on his own equipment.

22. Yes. I will give credit where it's due, and his Iraq comments have
been encouraging. Maybe they will embolden a few Republicans out there in Red State land to vote more moderately instead of for the next yahoo who comes along blathering about Jesus and terrorists.

But you're right -- there's that super conservative Chuck Hagel and that ornery voting machine tie-in that I just can't get around.

Go, Democrats.

18. Having no chance to lead, we should secede!
In reality, how can you be tired of East Coast Presidents - the last one we had was Carter.

The NE has been discriminated against. Too many Southern Presidents (Carter, Reagan, (Bush?), Clinton, Bush - that's the last 26 years!

Now, desn't that sound silly.

15. Which one is an anti-corruption, open government Democrat?
And I think it is ASSININE for anyone to attack the senator who has investigated and exposed more government corruption than any lawmaker in modern history just because he is from the east.

Why don't you just THINK for a few seconds what this country would look like if Kerry hadn't been in the picture for the last 35 years.

This nation would be on its second decade of New World Order by now.

24. Wes has a slight Arkansas accent.....which would be natural...
since he lived in Arkansas from the age of 4 till he left for College.....and has settled back there since retiring....he is still from the South.

He was only in New York 4 years and then went to England.....and then Vietnam, and then all over the United states, including Texas, Alabama, California, etc.....

In otherwords he speaks with a "Wes" accent.

26. Aren't Iowa and New Mexico west of the mighty Mississippi?
or does your plan exclude easterners AND westerners named Richardson and Vilsack? :)

Does Illinois count as an eastern state? It *is* east of the river, but it's right on the river. Obama is more midwesterner than easterner.

And while the Carolinas are well east of the river, John Edwards isn't cut from the Lieberman, Hillary, Biden or even Kerry molds.

Now, if you want to talk about having more candidates who aren't Washington/corporate insiders...

33. 20 years ago it would've been possible, not anymore
First term Governors can't spend a year playing the fundraising game because if they don't secure the nomination then their opponent will destroy them when they run for re-election saying that they abandoned the state to run for President. It used to be you could spend a few months in the primaries and if you didn't do well you could just cut your losses and go back home. Not the case anymore.

36. I don't care about a specific region,
I would just prefer a good candidate who
1. comes from a flippable red state
2. isn't a senator

If Gore, Lieberman, Kerry or Edwards was from FL or OH, they'd be sitting in the White House now.

There have been 3 people to go from the senate to the Presidency since Lincoln (for obvious reasons, IMO) and I don't like those odds.
