I just found this and have to say, this is the most ridiculous and vague so-called "Strategy" I've ever read! Prepare to be very unimpressed. And if you've "...already got too many things to worry about..." in your life, you might want to avoid adding this one to the pile:

I'd have to say that this is almost exactly what I would've expected from these idiots.

Hard to say what the most stupid part of this "strategy" summery is, but all that Caliphate talk is right up there with Bush's "...we're on a Crusade..." comments from a few years back. Why they didn't just say, "We are withdrawing the troops to positions around the Oil Fields..." I don't know.

Caliphate, as in: al-Qaida wants to establish a caliphate in Iraq and then expand the caliphate widely. I wonder what it means? Here is some I transcribed off the pdf for your reading pleasure. I tried to not comment, if I did they are in parenthesis.

Our allies in the region are concerned about negative Iranian influence in Iraq.

Iraq is governed by a freely elected government under a permanent constitution. (ignore the removal of any puppets)
Iraqi leaders have not yet achieved a single vision for a unified Iraq.

Despite more than 300,000 trained and equipped members of the ISF (Iraqi Security Forces), substantially fewer numbers are present for duty on a given day. Combat losses, desertion, attrition, and leave account for the majority of those absent. (maybe the rest have been beamed up?)

Iraqi support for the Coalition has declined substantially, in part due to the failure of security over the last yr (duh, no shit Sherlock) In the absence of security, communities are turning to "self-help".

Key assumptions Previous (roses) and Now (aw fuck)

Strategic Goal: A unified democratic federal Iraq that can govern itself, and sustain itself, and is an ally on the War on Terror.
Objectives in this new phase (12-18 months):
1. Defeat al-qaida and its supporters and ensure no terrorist safe haven exists in Iraq
2. Support Iraqi efforts to quell sectarian violence in Baghdad and regain control over the capital
3. Ensure the territorial integrity of Iraq and counter/limit destructive Iranian and Syrian activity in Iraq
4. Help safeguard democracy in Iraq by encouraging strong democratic institutions impartially serving all Iraqis and preventing the return of the forces of tyranny.
5. Foster the conditions for Iraqi national reconciliation but with the Iraqi Government clearly in the lead.
6. Continue to strengthen the ISF and accelerate the transition of security responsibility to the Iraqi Government.
7. Encourage an expanding Iraqi economy including by helping Iraq maintain and expand its export of oil to support Iraqi development.
8. Promote support for Iraq from its neighbors, the region, and the international community.


Page 9 gives us this tidbit: We must maintain and expand our capabilities for the long war. Acknowledge that succeeding in Iraq is the immediate challenge but it is not the last challenge. Ensure we have adequate national capabilities to fight the long war, on the military and civilian side.

Key Tactical Shifts for the USA:
-Increase in US troops, 5 additional brigades committed to Baghdad, Partnering of US battalions to Iraqi brigades in 9 districts of Baghdad.
-Increase US forces available to support Iraqi operations in Anbar, and step up pressure on al-Qaida.
-Re-mobilize the Ntl Guard to support rotations.
-Expansion of US embed program and partnering.
-Doubling of PRTs and PRT civilian personnel in Iraq (What's a PRT?)
-Integration of PRTs and BCTs in most areas
-Request to Congress to support the creation of a Civilian CERP for PRT leaders
-Jobs creation programs to support operations in Baghdad and Anbar
-Increase operations against Iranian actors
-Deployment of security assets to the Gulf region
-Launch of International Compact, early 2007
-Increase in end-strength of US Army and Marine Corps
-Request to Congress to allow State to reimburse civilian agencies that send employees to Iraq

5. Remobilize the Ntl Guard to support rotations??? Isn't the National Guard ALREADY "Mobilized?"

How do you "Remobilize" a National Guard that is already mobilized? :wtf:

I have to admit, I stopped reading this before I got to that page, just couldn't take anymore of it, and as for all those abbreviations (PRT, BCT, CERP, MOD, etc.) I haven't a clue what all that BS means. I hope others here can figure them out.

And WTF is the deal with Bush hating on the "Iranian actors???" Iranian movies suck bad enough already, why we gotta be hassling the poor "Iranian actors???" ;) (just a little joke) :evilgrin:
