BoHerd: "little point in echoing the rest of the knee-jerk majority in ripping the president"
John Kerry would never be anyone’s first choice to step into that breach. And he hardly sounded yesterday like he’s in the mood for making friends. But as long as he’s going to stay in the Senate, there is little point in echoing the rest of the knee-jerk majority in ripping the president, ripping the Republicans or seeking vengeance for a decade of being in the minority.

Ted Kennedy is as partisan as they come, but he has managed during his 40-year career to notch impressive bipartisan victories. On the campaign trail, Kerry constantly lamented the demise of civic discourse in Washington. His party is back in power. Now is his chance to do something about it.
