Wealthy Texans paying to derail Hillary Clinton ("Stop Her Now")
http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/latestnews/stories/120406dntswprezmoney.34a7139.html

A Dallas businessman is helping bankroll an effort to derail Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's presidential hopes, and he says he plans to tap other big-money Texans in the cause.

Richard Collins has put at least $80,000 into a group called Stop Her Now, which launched a new Web site last week targeting the possible frontrunner for the Democratic nomination in 2008.

"We expect to raise millions of dollars, a lot of it from online people and a lot of it from wealthy, conservative donors from around the country that want to keep Hillary Clinton from being elected president," Mr. Collins said.

"We're going to define Hillary as an ambitious, calculating, tough political operator who is trying to define herself as a centrist Democrat when, in fact, she's an ultraliberal Democrat," said Mr. Collins, who owns a newspaper group with publications in Cedar Hill, Duncanville, DeSoto, Lancaster and Grand Prairie.

6. Wouldn't that be wonderful?
I've been toying with this fantasy since right after the 2004 election. They all gather up and attack Hillary, spending millions and millions of their ill gotten gains, then near the end she removes herself from the race with a charming smile and tells them all, "got you, you bigoted suckers."

3. Scared of grrrls, Mr. Collins?
Sure sounds that way, doesn't it? And after all, what could a second President Clinton do that would be any worse than the second President Bush? On behalf of the rest of America, which is sick and tired of Republican Texas' brand of politics and governance, may I humbly suggest you shut the fuck up, Mr. Collins?

Edited on Mon Dec-04-06 10:46 AM by Ishoutandscream2
Their hatred is so obsessive. Needless to say, she could be the most "conservative" candidate the Dems may run in the 08 primaries.

I keep telling my Bushbot coworkers this, and of course, they say they don't believe it. It is simply pure, misogynistic hatred on their part. Ask why they hate Senator Clinton, and all they can say is that she is a "bitch" and "socialist" without knowing what her true positions are.

By the way, I am not a supporter of Senator Clinton for president.

5. LOL - I thought the Republicans wanted Hillary Clinton as the Democratic
nominee.

Targeting her so early seems to go against the talkinghead-Repubs line of the week ( month/year)

Looks like they are pretty worried.

Edited to include:
Ahem...then go back to the DMN article and take a peek at one of the repuke donors

Donor: Alice Walton, Mineral Wells rancher and Wal-Mart heiress

Amount: $2.6 million

Purpose: Progress for America Fund, which sponsored a television ad showing images of Osama bin Laden and other terrorists as an announcer asked: "Would you trust Kerry against these fanatic killers?"

if you're comparing Senators who are likely Presidential contenders.

Progressive Punch puts his voting record in 8th place for his positions on progressive issues; Clinton is in 10 place.

Others:

Feingold, 19th
Kerry, 23
Biden 25

12. One more idle rich Republican prick
"Richard H. Collins is a Dallas native and sixth generation of a well-known Texas family active in commerce, politics and civic matters."

<snip>

"He serves on the Governors Business Council, as President of the Today Foundation, Chairman of Associated Texans Against Crime (ATAC), Founder of the Children's Education Fund of Dallas (CEF) and as the Director of the Collins Family Foundation. He serves as Chairman of DALENPAC (Dallas Entrepreneurial Political Action Committee) and is active in the Republican Party."

Check out the links page. None of his so-called "philanthropic" ventures even have working links. Probably just places to hide his profits from the IRS.

Such an upstanding citizen - wasting millions of dollars to slime a perfectly harmless, run-of-the-mill Democratic politician. Maybe he ought to be spending more on his Today Foundation and they could actually have an operational website.

38. Texas Reactionaries and fundamentalists
would be more accurate. These folks can't simple concentrate on their own messed up state, which ranks near the bottom on most every major measure. Nope, they take their money, their fundamentalism, anti-tax lunacy and their corrupt business practices and try to cram them down everyone else's throats.

40. They won't get much $upport from Dallas or Austin
She'd probably clean the floor$ with them in those 2 cities alone..Dallas County just fired all of their repuke judges and elected all Dems. Austin is that beautiful blue spot in the middle of TX red..where people walking down the street wear T shirts that simply say "Fuck Bush".
Outside of Highland Park where the zillionaires (in Dallas) these fools will be hard pressed to find much support. Probably why they are pushing the "online" request for donations.
