Dem Mike Beebe on Tuesday said he supports reinstating a ban on gay
LITTLE ROCK - Democratic gubernatorial nominee Mike Beebe on Tuesday said he supports reinstating a ban on gay foster parents partly because of a stigma he says children may face if they are raised by homosexuals.

In an interview with The Associated Press, Beebe _ the state's attorney general _ said he doesn't believe allowing gay people to become foster parents would be in the best interest of the children.

"The best interest of the child, in my opinion, is not to support gay foster parents," Beebe said.

The Arkansas Supreme Court on June 29 struck down the state's ban on gay foster parents and Beebe said the day after the ruling that he opposed allowing gay people to foster children.

3. Um, are we being choosy?
It's not like we can stock up on foster parents at Costco. Seems to me if they are don't have a record and are offering a warm, dry place to sleep, that's all that matters.

4. Well, if we want to pursue a 50 state strategy, people
like this are going to be part of the party.

13. Absolutely. They're welcome to be Democrats, but they
don't deserve a free pass.

We just have to hope that the South catches up with the rest of the country at some point.

9. As long as we don't allow them to institutionalize their bigotry, fine.
Otherwise, fuck them.

14. Agreed. Just because they're under the tent doesn't mean
that they get to call the shots.

5. The best interest of the child is to be placed with hetero foster parents
who are in it for the money.
who mistreat the children.

That's much better than being with a gay couple.

Thanks beebe you moron.

7. Then does he also support a ban on interacial adoptions...
...because of the stigma children may face if they are raised by mixed couples? What of households where the parents follow different religions? Little Johnny might have a Christian and a Jew for parents and he might get teased for it. What about when one parent is disabled? Ha ha, your mommy only has one leg! Clearly, allowing such people to become foster parents wouldn't be in the best interest of the children.

11. Here's my view...
he's an asshole.

We are supposed to take a deep breath and vote all the assholes in, and let them say anything and do anything they want about women's rights, gay rights, Iraq, anything.

We already voted, but the change starts right after the election, no matter which way it goes.

They are giving Joe a paas in CT, yet we are supposed to be on board with the candidates everywhere.

12. He's running for governor. He doesn't mean a thing in terms of taking back Congress.
He's running ahead of his RepublicOn opponent.

But, frankly, I hope he loses.

I'd hate to see an anti-gay jackass succeed with a "D" next to his name, when the race means NOTHING to our immediate, national concerns.

:grr:
