I heard Jeb Bush say on CNN she's can't get elected in the general. And if that is the case, how on earth could she win the primary? You KNOW they are planning to steal the election. So what is going on with this hype about Cruella? I smell a propaganda rat, but can't figure out the underlying scam.

5. Agreed. But what are the Pukes up to
with all this hype about her being unelectable? Is Jeb somehow trying to cover his arse for his projected presidential run?

31. I disagree... no machines can erase a 30-point lead.
I think she won because of name recognition. She'll get creamed in the GE. -- Just my opinion, though.

The religious nutcases always come out to vote, and they'll hand her the nomination.

I sincerely doubt that wretched excuse for a human being will win the race.

12. There are two towns in Florida that my pop warned me not to
make eye contact in. One was in central Florida, just south or east of Orlando, and the other was in the Panhandle. Both had been taken over by fundies; one church in central Florida and a bunch of churches in the Panhandle.

My pop knew enough about those folks to be terrified of them. They are Dominionists.

There's a reason the Schiavo case happened in Florida. That state is just full of bible thumping crazy people.

7. no scam. it's just that very few people vote in the primary
The same people will vote for her in the primary and the general election (right wing nutcases). They make up about 45% of republican primary voters, but only about 25% of all general election voters.

13. Do you really think the election in FL is going to be honest?
If the votes are accurately counted I agree that she'll lose in a landslide. But how much chance is there that this election won't be rigged like all the others over the last 6 years? Jeb knows this election is a done deal/slam dunk grand theft (Just like all the others. No worries). My question is why is he preaching that she's unelectable. I just don't get it.

18. because she *is* unelectable
she's almost as unelectable as Alan Keyes was in Illinois. Why didn't he win?

There are several reasons why this race won't be fixed.

4) it's the Senate. The Republicans aren't projected to lose the Senate anyway, so it's not high priority
3) Not every county in Florida can be fixed. Orange County for example, has optical scan machines with paper ballots and an honest supervisor of elections.
2) They'd have to give her 50 points. If there is ANYTHING that would wake the general Florida populace up the idea of fixed machines it is a Katherine Harris victory.

and, the number one reason that they won't fix the Senate race....

1) They'll be too busy fixing the governor's race

20. I hope you're correct.
Illinois is a far cry from Florida, however. The one thing that gives me some hope is that Jebby is trying to clean up his tarnished reputation for a presidential run. If there were a big scandal over an unpopular Harris miraculously "winning", on top of the clear 2000 presidential theft, his political prospects might be nil.

I just hope a lot of that odd information that has been floating around about Crist turns out to be true!!

Who knows? Democrats didn't turn out in Sarasota county in very high numbers today. I think it was 24%! And I'm really very upset with what they did to Jan Schneider! I know Schneider made one rather bad mistake, but all in all... IMO she's better qualified that Jennings! But it's been Jennings for a long time now, many Dems decided they wanted a new face!

19. actually, that's not true. she was always projected to win the primary
that's why she doesn't have any credible primary opposition. The republican party (and jeb) kept trying to find somebody to run against her (e.g. Alan Bense) but nobody with the juice to raise money wanted to risk it. Only the party faithful vote in primaries and there are plenty of crazy republican die-hards who love the crazy wench.

15. The Republicans are divided.
The moderate Republicans have no choices in the primary. Harris has name recognition and the theocratic arm of the Repuke party will break down the doors to vote for her while the moderates stay home.

21. The Rep Party machinery is run by the loonies.
Moderates have no say in party decisions, like who gets support to run for office.

I don't know specifics about this FL primary, but it's likely that either none of the candidates are moderates, or they are totally unsupported by the party.

This is a result of Pat Robertson's campaign (when he ran for president) to rig the party machinery. He started in Michigan where he did well in the presidential Repuke primary that year. This was a signal to many of us that the Christian Coalition was getting huge numbers of precinct committeepersons nationwide. Once you control the precincts, you've got the district. Once you have the district, you can take over the state party. Once you have the state delegates... You get the idea.

So here we are a couple of decades later and the Republican Party is from bottom-to-top operated by this fringe group of radicals who places ideological purity above all else. Moderates are totally ennervated. They have no say in the decisions. They have little chance to mount a successful campaign against the ideologues.

29. buncha nobodies
that's the problem for the republicans -- none of them have the money or name recognition to get anywhere close to her and there are three of them so the anti-Harris vote didn't coalesce. I don't think any of them have run for office before.

1) LeRoy Collins, whose father was governor in the 50s (I think he was a pro-civil rights Democrat, but I'm not sure). However, he can't really capitalize on his father's name because voters don't remember his father.
2) An Orlando attorney named Will McBride -- who has a name very similar to Bill McBride, a Tampa attorney and Democrat who ran against Jeb in 2002, so that's not helping him in the republican primary.
3) some developer named Peter Monroe.

All the papers are endorsing Collins, but it won't be enough.

When ReTHUGS are unhappy with a candidate in a primary.. they do nothing.

34. As Much As I'm Going To Be Holding My Nose Voting For Bill Nelson
even here in Sarasota local TV says she "needed" at least 50% to be presentable. She didn't have any real contenders. If her own local station says she is going to have to climb a mountain to win the General, it MUST mean something.

Having said that, I just wonder what Bill will do if she actually ends up taking the state! If by chance it happens there will NEVER EVER be a doubt in my mind that she's had her hand in the "cookie jar" and knows just where ALL the goodies are! And I will KNOW for sure that she will stop at NOTHING to win! Hey, who knows how her father died? I know, low blow... but this is one creepy lady, a snake in the grass and so full of herself she must go blind when she looks in the mirror!

Would she dare try it again... she is The Witch you know?? We don't call her Cruella for nothing!!!

She's just all perked up and sparkly tonight, but even I who call myself a complete cynic when it comes to voting knows she will only win if she CHEATS like she's done so many times before. And I KNOW Bill Nelson is going to go into SHOCK!!

As one who has had to put up with this witch for so long since 2000 I can't wait to be rid of her, and all the polls show her in the 20's, so it will be VERY interesting to see just how sneaky she will actually get! I've wondered for a very long time just WHY she's spent so much money and stayed in the race, so you know.... THIS IS FLORI-DUH!!!

Primaries are for the party extremes. Don't forget Harris almost settled 2000 in Bush's favor, I'm sure the far right loves her.
