Dead in the Water of DLC...
Edited on Thu Aug-17-06 06:18 PM by KoKo01
It's so hard to fight back...we might as well "pour the warm bath..slit wrists and support Lieberman because he's been so trashed." Polls say he's ahead of Lamont.

The Liberal Left (which is the "Former Center" of Dem Politics)..has been told they are "Nut Cases" by big Liberal Posters on Blogs.

The fading "Labor View" as put out by Blogger David Sirota is constantly trashed and picked apart as "old stuff" by so many DU'ers.

We lose our "creative voices daily." Some find them "too OTT to win in November" and so put them in the Michael Moore Camp as "Wasteland" like little anorexic Annie Coulter has been so effective in pointing out.

Where do we go? The "Rags and Tatters" of the Dems" ...reviled and trashed by Media...Reviled and Trashed by the M$M...Reviled and Trashed...wherever we GO...including sites that claim they are "Democratic." HA!! Even our own NEW "Progressive Movement" has "naysayers" that trash their members as "Conspiracy Theorist Nut Jobs."

You know though...the more we are TRASHED the STRONGER we will become...somewhere...out there ...in the "hinterlands of the hearts and minds of American Patriots..who aren't RW FUNDIES..WHO AREN'T part of the Politico Punditocracy....even AMONG THOSE who on the Blogosphere...seek to undermine the MESSAGE of POPULISM...(Fair Wage, Fair Trade, Fair Pension, Fair SS, Fair Health Care, Fair Insurance, Fair Lives for ALL OF US, FAIR ENVIRONMENT FREE FROM Waste, Abuse and Foul Air, Fair Use of Land, Fair Government......FAIR!!!!

That's all we ask...and to TOP IT OFF! FAIR MEDIA!!!! FAIR MEDIA!!!!

1. If Joe L wins - they'll get what they asked for
More death and more hatred for America. I have hope for Lamont and continue to contribute to his campaign. But if CT doesn't see it our way, they'll get what they freaking deserve - Joe voting for perpetual war.

2. Thanks for the reply.....
I hope what you hope...but NOT for more war..yet it seems so many are resigned to "targeted nukes" taking out Iran will solve all our problems and make America "whole" again. "They" have been WRONG so MANY TIMES....why should we trust them again?

I wish someone could tell me why Dems trust "them," too!

10. For now, hope and faith lies with the old fashioned voting machines in CT
They came through for Lamont once and I hope they will again. If not for them, Joe L would be the Dem candidate - I have no doubt. In the meantime I'm going to keep donating to Ned's campaign.

3. Keep the faith and work for a better tomorrow.
"You may say I'm a dreamer, But I'm not the only one"-JL

Sooner or later the outrages and indignities perpetrated against the people will make them realize they have to come together. When that day comes, we win. Until then, as long as they keep us fragmented, they will continue to push their evil anti-labor, anti working class agenda.

8. Yes.......but understand that there WILL BE SELL OUTS.....
so not to be disappointed...And, it's the Basic Work...the FOUNDATION created by many here that will be OUR LEGACY.

Right now the "realigning of Business/lobbyists/fly by night reformers/sychophants" is going on.

The Realignment which is neatly arranged is going on. But...living on through the ages to fight another day in another battle with "baton passed" is what we can hope to do. I feel energized by that...even though I see the dark side.

We must remember that what we do may be a "blip in history" but it will MAKE A HUGE MARK for decades! It's worth it...in the end..to move us all forward and fight back against those who seek OPPRESSION/SUPPRESSION in every aspect of our lives and our society.

4. i ain't got nuttin' to add ... you said it just right
Edited on Thu Aug-17-06 06:56 PM by welshTerrier2
on second thought, i think i will do a little adding ... i've been pushing for party unity ... and i'm not prepared to give up on that quite yet ... this means a party-wide Town Meeting to work out our differences ...

but there is one thing that's going on right now that i will not tolerate ... it would send the message loudly and clearly that it will be a fight to the bitter end ... and it will be bitter ...

and that is that the stink of fake endorsements for Lamont from Hillary and Bill and certain others better not become any more pungent than it already is ... i read that Hillary made a statement that Lieberman has better than a 50-50 chance of winning ... that is just not what a Lamont supporter in a prominent position should be saying whether it's what she believes or not ...

if Lieberman wins, and a certain segment of the party has not done all it could have to stop him, i, for one, will never forget it ... they need to know we are all watching them and many of us don't like what we're seeing ...

k&r ...

5. What you say........"A Fight to the Bitter End!" ....and who wanted this?
Edited on Thu Aug-17-06 07:16 PM by KoKo01
Not most of us...but we've been pushed to the WALL where the only way we can defend is to do Offense.

None of us wanted this. We though we could solve "Selection 2000" and all that came after through the judicial system/Congress/Media.

Will we get enough "Big Momentum" before November? Given what us "long timers" have seen..NO! We need to WORK HARD..but as we've seen in the past..given Election Fraud and the rest...we should NEVER get our expectations UP to be DOWNED in TEARS.

It's a long...long road... some of us might not "make it" to the end and the "Promised Land" as MLK so prophetically spoke before he was assassinated. Some of us might just have felt we walked for SIX YEARS and YEARS BEFORE...and we "gotta pass that torch" to the "fit and nimble."

6. Do DLC Dems want Joe to beat Lamont and thereby stick it to the netroots?
It makes you wonder when you hear the likes of Joe Biden saying he "will not campaign against Joe Lieberman" on Imus this morning, and then you read that Lieberman may bring the Republicans out in force in Connecticut and help three endangered Republicans keep their seats in Connecticut--keeping us from taking back the House in November.

http://www.courant.com/news/politics/hc-joecongress0810.artaug10,0,6172204.story?coll=hc-headlines-politics

Democrats need to get out front now and show their support for Ned Lamont--that means you, Bill and Hillary Clinton. Kudos to John Edwards who was campaigning today with Lamont in Connecticut.

9. I know...I understand that Lieberman commands loyalty on "social issues"
from some Dems who worked with him for years. But...the time has come when "change" has occurred and we've given Dems like Lieberman enough time to change and instead he chose to go with the Repugs and Bush...time after time.

It's hard to understand how a Dem who loses a Primary can still think he can run against his party and yet retain the right to his years of "perks and assignments" with seniority.

The Senate rules are different from the House rules but when Cynthia McKinney won back her seat she was DENIED her Seniority. A Dem who runs as an Indie even though he tries to tell folks he's an insurgent against the Dem who really won with the vote of the people is no better than Lieberman and the rest denying Hezbollah their right to exist in Lebanon. Lieberman wants to be a Dem within the Dem Party while he now maintains his independence. Maybe Joe can explain that one to the rest of us given his views on Bush Wars.

7. and some of us are tired but seeing new opportunities will SELL OUT!
Edited on Thu Aug-17-06 07:28 PM by KoKo01
it happened after the 60's. Look at Vernon Jordan and others (including to some extent Jesse Jackson)...but many, many White Folks (Lawyers, Business Community) who were INVOLVED in that time...THEY SOLD OUT...they had to make a living.) Altruism when one needs to feed a family can only last so long.

Very few of us can be Gandi...very few of us can support the hardships of this LONG, HARD, HAUL...And it's not Chimp's version of "Hard Work" with Poppy/Cheney/NeoCons/Media as the wind beneath your wings....

What "WE" are faced with is restarting what was started in the 1960's with Government Reform and Environmental Reform ..and even though the "MESSAGE" got Corrupted....We have BUSINESS TO FINISH! THEY couldn't FINISH IT.. It's ups to US who have the strength, will and dedication to CARRY IT ON!

And...to know that like those who came BEFORE...some will get tired, some will sell out and some will move on.......but PASSING THE TORCH ..WILL move us on! It WILL!!!

11. they come after us....
....because they fear us....if progressive ideas/programs regain a toe-hold in the American politics and the American electorate ever gets a real taste of progressive-ism, it'll take off and split the ass and wallet of every conservative of every stripe in every Party....

....they know this, so hunting/minimizing/attacking the 'left' is always in season in both Parties and in all corporate media....

....keep talking, talk to everyone you know, wherever you go....weave politics into every conversation, into peoples' lives, problems and offer only progressive solutions as the 'right' solution....

....people around me get sick and tired of hearing me, but I don't care....I won't stop until I know a person realizes that politics is at the root of their daily existence and commits to paying attention....hopefully paying attention from our direction....
