Newt's boy is the R running in the CO 7 district. We should OWN this seat.
This is the seat that Beauprez (R) won by 121 votes.(This was after the district was redrawn in the late 90's to favor repubs)

Beauprez is now vacating the seat to run for CO gov, so we have the chance to change it to D. Ed Perlmutter won the D primary and is poised to attack this weasel.

Rick O'Donnell, the repub, is a Gingrich protege. And, lucky for us, a moran. He wrote an essay about how "Un American" the Social Security system in 1995. The essay was in Newtie's mag, "American Civilization ", which he (O'Donnell) edited. Hmmm, I don't think the magazine is still around, just guessing. :-)

The title of said essay: "For Freedom's Sake, Eliminate Social Security".

More fun stuff from the brilliant musings of our repub candidate:

"As we bury the rest of the welfare state in preparation for the 21st century, it is time to slay the largest government 'entitlement' program of all, Social Security."

And, here's one that will resonate with the senior citizens in the district:

"There is an even more important moral question raised by the government's role as chief provider in old age. It sends the un-American message that it is not your responsibility to take care of yourself."

And, yes, he has flip-flopped like it's an Olympic event.

So, if our candidate, Ed Perlmutter, can't beat this nimrod in a district that is evenly divided between R's, D's and unaffiliated, I will be yelling election fraud from the rooftops.

That's right, we have Diebold machines. :-(

Here's a great editorial about O'Donnell

My previous post about this, before I knew his Gingrichian background:

anti taxcut. Huh??? Well, CO did give birth to Tabor insanity. But that's pretty weak under the circumstances. I spotted the faxsource name at the bottom though--out of Gingrich's office!

2. Yes, but...
that was written 11 years ago. Watch O'Donnell backtrack from those remarks written when he was quite young.

I think Perlmutter will win this seat and give Colorado a 4 to 3 Democratic advantage. That district is very evenly split as you say.

I just wish I lived in 7 rather than Tommy Tancredo's 6th. I don't see Bill Winter beating him. In the 6th even a lot of Democrats like Tancredo's xenophobia.

3. Oh yes, he has backtracked and tried not to backtrack. Just like he's
taken the money from the gwb fundraisers, while trying to act as if he's completely independent of the bush administration ("I'm my own man")

I moved out of the CO 7 district, to Denver, a few months ago. At times, I wish I was back there, although it's nice to be in a squarely blue district. MKJ
