I don't know whether to weep or scream...
I have a co-worker who is in the Army Reserve, and is a medic. Did a tour of Afghanistan for a year. Burned some CDs of pictures for me, and holy God...

Fuck the flag-draped coffins...if the American people could see the destruction of human flesh and life, both military and civilian, in these pictures...I am just shaking, I can not fathom what life must be like for those who serve and who have been so grievously wounded...or for the innocent civilians caught in the situation.

My God. Burns. Amputations. Faces half gone. Bowels spilling out of torsos. Entry wounds. Exit wounds.

It's just too much.

That goddamned cowardly little unelected piece of shit in the White House should be seeing these, and then he should be tried for treason and war crimes, and then he should be marched off in an orange jump suit and shackles to spend the rest of his sorry-assed life in solitary confinement where he should be forced to look at what he has wrought, 24/7.

Fucker. Miserable fucker. Dealer of death.

He MUST be made to pay.

5. but, only if his friend is not put into a troubling situtation
It would be nice (?) to see them, and to send them out to the world. Remember, though, this DOD is run by some real vindictive SOBs and they have no problems with squashing anyone perceived to be a threat to their spin.

21. As long as I can protect the privacy of the individuals, and if someone
can tell me how...there are some I could post that don't show any faces or uniform insignia or anything...I DO think they need to be seen, but I will respect the privacy and not post anything that identifies an individual member of our military.

Is there any way we can circulate some of the pics? It sounds like they would make a profound statement.

So no one would get into trouble?

3. Dear Grannylib.....the men have had their chance.....now it is time for
women to lead this country back to sanity.

Post the pictures and I will dedicate every possible moment I can muster, to spread them around and dare people not to take to the streets.

Let's show the world that there are millions of Americans who DO CARE.

I'm in.

To paraphrase, war is actually worse than Hell, because the only people who go to Hell are sinners. War hurts & kills babies, little old ladies, etc.

8. I recommend both - weep and scream
One of the main reasons the "goddamned cowardly little unelected piece of shit in the White House" gets away with this is because we are spared seeing what we are actually doing to real people. That one-eyed cyclops blathers on about terra and al-Qaeda tapes, and if morale fails they can always trot out the big gun - Sept. 11th. the US seems to think we're the only ones who ever suffered, ever bled, and that that day trumps any call to reason or restraint.

No one has been held to account. There has been no justice. Our congress seems positively eager for the next leg.

20. I could post some that have no identifiable faces in them; the man who
burned the CDs wanted to protect the privacy of the individuals, and I will respect that...but I don't know how! I'm technologically-challenged...

If I have them on CD, do I need to save them to my hard drive first? What do I do then?? I don't have a web site or anything...

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

25. There's ways to 'censor' faces, etc., using photo shop.
Edited on Fri Jul-28-06 05:37 PM by Lars39
There's talented people here on DU who could do this in a jiff...maybe even host the pics longterm.
I don't know how, but I can :kick: til somebody does.

29. I cropped them so no American faces or military insignia/name tags
etc. are visible; the couple of faces of indiginous folks are not recognizable at all, due to the horrific nature of their injuries...

Trying to see if I can get Photobucket to work.

16. I can only imagine
but I could not view them. Could not. But if at all possible I'd like to see these tragic photos posted on neocon forums.

I think anyone who sees those photos and continues to support war is sick beyond measure.

And yet, just the other day I saw a tv ad for a set of WWII videos (newly discovered footage never yet been seen by the general public the ad hypes). Yes, folks, from the comfort of your favourite armchair you too can have the enjoyment of watching the horrors of war. Good God!

22. Photobucket.com
granny, you can get a free photobucket account:

http://photobucket.com/

Easy to sign up. Be mindful of the name that you give to the photoalbum.

You can try uploading the images from the CD - I've never tried it.

Good luck!

27. GrannyLib, I'm totally on your side .... but please .....
.... as horrible as I can imagine those pitcures to be, I am always caused to wonder if showing them makes any difference. Some of us are predisposed to be horrified, some of us are predisposed to be angered, and some of us are predisposed to cheer, as awful as is that thought.

But what also happenes is we become inured against any emotions. We become numb.

And then we become tolerant. Or at least desensitized. I wonder if the *idea* of them might not be more powerful than the pictures themselves.

Like you ..... I don't know whether to weep or scream .... and so I find myself doing both.

28. I am just planning to post a link, not the pics themselves, so people can
make their own choice whether to view or not.
I totally understand where you're coming from, and I agree to a point, and respect your opinion...
I just found them so moving and such a focus for both prayer and action (that's just me...not trying to proselytize anyone) I felt it important to offer the opportunity to view some reality...

And I hope it does honor the men and women who work so hard to save these lives, whether they be military, civilian, American or foreign...

It seems to be the only way to stay sane. How ironic.
I hope we can survive long enough to recover from this state of imposed insanity, and bring those in BushCo who are responsible to some sort of justice.
