Bush supporters....Paint a picture for me, will you?
I was remembering a roadside tent I saw in Arizona a few years back. Someone told me "Holy Rollers" had come to town. It got me thinking about fervent Bush supporters and for some reason, art. Hence, the paint a picture for me, will you subject of this posting.

Wish some Bush supporters would grab America`s canvas and start fine-tuning here and there. Take a long look then do the redo. Maybe forget the usual glossing over which is too fanciful, like Norman Rockwell`s work on steroids. You know, every lad`s a Cub Scout, every home has a fresh turkey roasting and a front porch for welcoming the sunset. That kind of glossing over.

Do you suppose Bushies know they can mix blue (the color of the state I live in) with yellow (the color of the envelope Cheney`s fifth deferment came in)and get green? No, not money green, but growing green. Like no unregulated polluters dumping waste in a poor town`s river green. Like homeless children learning about grass green. Bushies seem fixated on red. Moral States red. "Power neckties" red. Forget war red, nothing left at the end of the month red, Hastert`s face after chasing a lobbyist red.

It`s this paint by number approach I`m not too fond of. Bush supporters get the same limited palette and the same mountain scene. Diversity tries to hang its choices: pink triangle in a white rectangle, hobos in a railroad car, Marilyn Monroe with her skirt flipped up, Dan Rather with an Al Jazeera tee shirt and all hell breaks loose. Washington Journal`s supports-the-president line lights up like a Christmas tree. KILL THE NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE ARTS AND NUKE IRAN WHILE YOU`RE AT IT!

1. I'll have to paint with words
Since poor vision has kept my brushes idle for the past five years.

Citzen: "Who did you vote for?"

Bushbot: "Bush, of course!"

Citizen: "Why did you vote for him?"

Bushbot: "I dunno, I just did!"

This is the mentality we are dealing with and this is a true portrait. I have found this one more than once in more than one state.

3. I had a coworker tell me once that she supported Bush
and she really didn't believe it was necessary for her to have a reason for doing so. This after I tried to get her to articulate the logic behind her vote when she is clearly liberal on virtually every measure we discussed. She wasn't a stupid woman, either. V. mysterious.

2. Black and red...the color of the silent Nazi
You know them now but they hide the bigotry that they once had in the 1960s as they opposed civil rights. They still feel the same way but know it would be counter productive to act on or talk about how they feel. And so they are the silent Nazi and silent Klansman praising Martin Luther King to disarm you.
