9. I'm waiting to see how DUers treat it
There were some pretty savage things said when Dean had a temporary problem. Thing is, the Dean campaign paid up, and in short order. (Don't remember seeing that posted and congratulated or celebrated. Wonder why?)

2. 250 to go without pay for a week.
Described as a 'voluntary' cut that will free up $250K.

12. Today I got a snail mail request from Dean for a contribution
and I plan to send a check in. But now that I see your post, and see that Clark's camp is tightening up similarly to how Deans had to recently, I think I may send a lil' something his way too. This is in response to how many Clark supporters have recently been supportive and understanding of what Dean has been going through. I don't have much to spare, but every $10 countrs, right?

Go DEMS!

24. Dean/Clark strategy
I'm a Dean supporter that voted yesterday in OK for Clark simply because it looked like Dean didn't have a prayer here and I am not really for Kerry. Clark was showing promise and I do like the guy anyway. Boy did I feel like a traitor but felt it could help Dean in a way.

30. Bravo.
And you're right, it does help Dean in a way, since it slows Kerry where Dean apparently could not.

I'll return the favor if the chance presents itself. We need to nominate someone who will CLEAN UP this mess.

5. That is fine. I was working for free, donating money, buying my
own stamps, and making calls.

Oh well.

There is no need to spin it cuz they've already pronounced Clark's campaign Dead.

No biggie. If you are dead what's a paycut.

32. People are being nasty when they call a campaign dead
Edited on Wed Feb-04-04 06:28 PM by MODemocrat
It is simply wishful thinking on their part. From what I've read on the Internet today, only 10 per cent of registered voters have voted in the primaries, so how in the world can a campaign be dead when it's just getting started? It sickened me when I heard the media
saying such mean and stupid things about Howard Dean. He is a good man, a doctor, and no telling how many lives he has saved. I've noticed people on this board swinging back and forth from one
candidate to the other, probably depending on who was getting the
highest ratings in the polls at any given time. The Clark and Dean suppporters are so loyal to their candidate, through thick and thin.

before I heard about this.

It's money that gives me the chance to hear Wes tell the truth about the Bush Administration's failure to take al Qaeda seriously prior to 9/11 and their determination shortly thereafter to invade Iraq. When it comes to the subjects of war and terrorism, none of our other candidates has his combination of guts and expertise.

18. Chins up Clark supporters,
your guy got one last night. You need to focus on the positives. Money will come your way. The internet and energized Dems like us have made sure that we can keep our candidates alive with funds.

I have a lot of respect for your guy and the work you guys are doing.

Being a Dean supporter I have seen the knives come out around here and it is not pretty. I can assure you, that you will never see me doing that and if I see a Dean supporter abusing you guys, I will be the first to take them to task for it.

Good luck in TN and VA.

25. Why is this breaking news on CNN?
Because money buys elections and they gloat in glee when candidates have financial problems?

Do they not find themselves a bit transparent?

Our campaigns should start keeping their finances a little more secret if we don't want the media defining things for our party.

26. Matching contributions... Clark <=> other
Edited on Wed Feb-04-04 06:18 PM by krkaufman
Is there any way to verify someone has donated to a campaign?

If so...

I've maxed-out to the Clark campaign and can give no more. However, in the spirit of cooperation, I'd be willing to trade donations with a supporter(s) of another candidate (i.e. Dean, Kucinich, Edwards) in order to keep the money flowing to the General -- so long as there's a way that we can verify each other's donations.

You give $N to Clark, and I give $N to Kucinich, Dean or Edwards. I'm willing to go another $500, for now (1x500, 10x50,...).

(No legality issue here, right?)

39. OK, I've signed up to be a "Clark Recruiter"
"Clark Recruiter" login will allow me to receive reports of donations from those I've referred, so I have a way to verify the donations. Only remaining hurdles are (1) get the stinkin' Clark techies to fix the Clark Recruiter verification URL/page, and (2) find people willing to match/trade funds. :)

PM me if interested. I hope to get my "Recruiter" status verified ASAP.

34. Bad news on one hand, good on the other.
Bad news that the money is tight but he has not been doing this for very long. Bad news that the press will gleefully report this. Good news that he won a state, is hanging tough and what more can a guy ask for than volunteers who will not only agree but volunteer to go without pay for a while. I am impressed. Hang in there, I will try to float into some bad threads if they appear and help you out (not that you need it, you guys rock!). We need each and every one of these guys to stick it out for the long haul.

38. ABC didn't present it negatively.
Surprisingly enough, they just reported that campaign workers had voted to take no pay for a week so they could buy commercials in the states where they'll be campaigning strongest. It was simply stated, and I didn't catch any spin. The fact that they presented it as the workers voting made it seem much more voluntary than if it had been a directive.

Seems when Dean asked HIS people to defer their paychecks 2 weeks certain DU people turned it into an issue (as I recall, a few Kerry supporters...maybe the archives are mistaken). I'm going to buck the trend and give Clark staffers the same kudos I gave Dean staffers. Great dedication!
