Al Gore is too precious a resource to waste as a US president.
First, let me say that I adore Al Gore. :loveya: :loveya: :loveya::loveya::loveya::loveya:

Maybe it is just me, but Al Gore seems to be blessed with movie star good looks. When he gets himself down to what he refers to as "campaign weight", he looks like he stepped out of an old black and white Hollywood movie from the days when all the women were beautiful--and the men were too (think Robert Taylor in Camille). And that charming smile and that southern drawl! And soooo smart! And articulate. Best of all, you can tell that he means every word that he is saying. That was his problem on the campaign trail. Al Gore can not fake it. If he is not interested in the topic, he exudes wooden boredom. On the other hand, if he is enthused, he radiates energy like a lighthouse beacon.

It would be shame to waste him in the White House, where he would develop premature wrinkles from being hounded by Richard Melon-Scaiffe and have to spend time with ugly old men from the former Soviet block. He has made a wise career decision. Skip straight to being Jimmy Carter post presidency, without ever having to go through the abuse and aggrevation of being president.

All he needs is a cause or topic that interests him, and he will be a shining star. A superstar even. A yellow dog Democrat superstar. But please, please, please do not ask him to be a president. It would be a waste of someone who is meant for greater things.

1. That would be letting him off easy, to be sure...
but I believe we need someone of his caliber in the White House for the next 8 years, and the world desperately needs his kind of leadership. He's pretty tough; I think he can handle the slings and arrows.

2. So, there is something greater than
being the most powerful person on the planet and able to use a bully pulpit for the Global Warming Crisis? Or are you being sarcastic and accidentally left off the sarcasm smiley?

3. I hate to say it, but I'm glad he loss in 2004. He is much better suited
as a spokesman for the global warming. If he had one he would have been battling a bunch of asshole republicans in congress anyway.

4. I'm beginning to agree with you.
If he ran for president again, I'd support him in a heartbeat. However, the work he has thrown himself into has such profound global urgency that to distract him with politics as usual would be criminal. I trust that he has the wisdom to make his own choices for the future with full insight and conviction.

5. McCamy, we can't afford to be without
Al in the White House. We absolutely need him. :kick: We cannot afford to be without this man as our candidate in 2008. Do you trust anybody else to put in the necessary changes for the greater good? And I'm not just talking about the environment, I'm talking EVERYTHING. There is nobody more qualified, nobody more honest, nobody more aware of what we are facing.

I used to like Hillary, but her pandering & swing to the right has alienated me forever. I hope she has the good sense not to run, but too much points the other way.

I used to love Kerry & backed him 100%, until I saw a swift concession after the big steal. My heart is still broken at seeing his hasty concession, for whatever reason, you fight the good fight, til you can't fight it any more. Al did that & he's come back to us with greater worthiness than ever before. And now we "get" him, we understand only now what he was all about.

Al Gore is my president, he was then & he will be again this time officially & rightfully. His presidency is crucial. He's been there for us all along, he never waivered, he was and is a man before his time. We are the ones who have to catch up.

Pay attention people, don't let them steal him from us again!
:dem:

PRESIDENT GORE, IF YOU ARE LISTENING, COME BACK TO US!!! WE NEED YOU LIKE NEVER BEFORE!

6. Then We Must Recruit Him... For Electoral Reform...
and Campaign Finance Reform, and Healthcare for All Americans, and... (but verified election reform first and asap)! I only say this because I agree that Al Gore could be a most profound leader on any and all of these issues--and he could do it from without the White House!

Then again, he's focusing on the Survival of the Human Race owing to Global Warming. Admittedly, in the long run (and to me 50 to 100 years is long), a much bigger issue.
Then, again, if he really wanted to have power to make things happen as far as policies and world leadership on Global Warming, the power of the Presidency would advance his goals further than by any other means.

Whatever he chooses, I can't wait to find out.

10. He would be in the most powerful position of all to
achieve all of those things. Do you think anyone, I mean anyone else could or would?

There's just no way! There is no one who is better suited, absolutely no one. I also feel that he
can't be bought off like the cheap suits in the WH today. He is a man of strength, of character, more profoundly -- a man of vision.

When this administration is through we are going to need a miracle worker. The miracle worker is AL GORE! :bounce:

Who are you willing to trust your world to?

You know the answer. :kick:

We absolutely must recruit him. There's no doubt. :grouphug:
