Despite record low approval ratings, House lawmakers Tuesday embraced a $3,300 pay raise that will increase their salaries to $168,500.

2. If they tied their salaries to job performance...
like they believe that the federal employee salaries should be, it would have been about a 99% pay cut.

3. maybe they should let voters decide
whether they deserve a pay raise or not; put it up as a referendum when there is a federal election.

7. Technically, no. The increase is automatic. They just didn't stop it.
It's a COLA increase that ALL government employees (except air traffic controllers) get and it's autoomatic.
